A 50-year-old man had a mesenteric ischemia related to superior mesenteric artery (SMA) occlusion associated with a type B aortic dissection. We decided to perform stent placement for the SMA and could avoid mesenteric ischemia. We think the stent placement in the SMA might be an option for the treatment of mesenteric ischemia caused by aortic dissection.
Isolated and spontaneous superior mesenteric artery dissection is a rare cause of acute abdominal pain. Whereas there is widespread consensus on conservative treatment of asymptomatic forms, revascularization would seem indicated in symptomatic complicated cases. A 73-year-old man presented with worsening epigastric pain. A computed tomography scan revealed an isolated and spontaneous superior ...
iatrogenic coronary artery dissection during coronary angiography with or without rupture is a rare but feared complication . we herein report a case of iatrogenic left main coronary artery dissection in a 49-year-old female. admitted to our hospital with a recent history of severe hypotension, she develpled apnea during angiography. she was intubated and resuscitated with an epinephrine infus...
CONTEXT Dissection of the superior mesenteric artery is the most important part of a pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic cancer. Since 2005, we have used the left posterior approach for superior mesenteric vascular pedicle dissection, in which the superior mesenteric artery and the superior mesenteric vein are dissected first in a clockwise fashion. OBJECTIVE This article presents the tech...
Aortic dissection may be fatal without early diagnosis and appropriate medical, surgical, or endovascular treatment. The presenting symptoms and signs are so myriad and nonspecific that dissection may be overlooked initially in up to 40% of cases. In addition, the diagnosis is established only postmortem in a substantial number of cases.1 Few other conditions demand such prompt diagnosis and tr...
An acute aortic dissection is a surgical emergency with a high mortality if left untreated. Given the varied presentations, including similarity to the far more common acute coronary syndromes, diagnosis and appropriate treatment are often delayed. This report evaluates the reasons for delay in the diagnosis of 894 patients in the International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection Registry. Pati...
Cerebral arterial dissection is defined as a hematoma in the wall of a cervical or an intracranial artery. Cerebral arterial dissection causes arterial stenosis, occlusion, and aneurysm, resulting in acute infarction and hemorrhage. Image analysis by such methods as conventional angiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and so on plays an important role in diagnosing cerebra...
OBJECTIVE Isolated spontaneous dissection of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) is very rare among of the visceral artery dissection and its treatment is not established. In this paper we present our experiences and consider the treatment of isolated SMA dissection. METHODS A retrospective review of our cases from 2005 was performed. Clinical symptoms, radiologic findings and results were e...
Background. Aortic dissection requires prompt and reliable diagnosis to reduce the high mortality. The purpose of this study was to assess the reliability of both ECG-triggered magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and transesophageal two-dimensional echocardiography combined with color-coded Doppler flow imaging (TEE) for the diagnosis of thoracic aortic dissection and associated epiphenomena. Meth...
