Local search procedures are popular methods to solve combinatorial problems and neighborhood structures are the main part of those algorithms. This paper presents a new neighborhood for the Quadratic Assignment Problem. The proposed neighborhood is compared with the classical 2-exchange neighborhood.
We consider transformations of the (metric) Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP), that exploit the metric structure of a given instance. We show in particular, how the structural properties of rectangular grids can be used to improve a given lower bound. Our work is motivated by previous research of G.S. Palubetskes, and it extends a bounding approach proposed by J. Chakrapani and J. Skorin-Kapov...

We address the exact solution of the famous esc instances of the quadratic assignment problem. These are extremely hard instances that remained unsolved—even allowing for a tremendous computing power—by using all previous techniques from the literature. During this challenging task we found that three ideas were particularly useful, and qualified as a breakthrough for our approach. The present ...
Quality improvement methods are essential to gathering high-quality crowdsourced data, both for research and industry applications. A popular broadly applicable method is task assignment that dynamically adjusts crowd workflow parameters. In this survey, we review address: heterogeneous assignment, question plurality problems in crowdsourcing. We discuss contrast how these estimate worker perfo...
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the issues related to task attribute assignment on an individual processor. The majority of papers on fixed priority scheduling make the assumption that tasks have their attributes (deadline, period, offset and priority) pre-assigned. This makes priority assignment trivial. However in practice, the system’s timing requirements are specified and it is ...
due to the considerable growth in the worldwide container transportation, optimization of container terminal operations is becoming highly needed to rationalize the use of logistics resources. for this reason, we focus our study on the quay crane scheduling problem (qcsp), which is a core task of managing maritime container terminals. from this planning problem arise two decisions to be made: t...
The allocation of software development tasks is a critical management activity in distributed development projects. One of the most important problem is to find the lowest-cost way to assign tasks in global software development, which can be solved by Hungarian algorithm. However, the original Hungarian algorithm only assume that a task can only be solved by one development site. The assumption...
