A series of imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole were synthesized by reacting 4, 5-diphenylimidazole-2-thione with ketones in presence of iodine or bromine in a single step. The products were generated in good yields and characterized by standard analytical techniques such as IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and mass spectrometry.
