Analysis and theoretical comparison between several fixed point strategies and Uzawa algorithms (for classical and augmented Lagrangian) are performed to solve the so called Signorini problem with Coulomb friction without any regularization. Thanks to a formalism coming from convex analysis, some new fixed point strategies are presented and compared to already known methods. The analysis is fir...

The immersed boundary method is an approach to fluid-structure interaction that uses a Lagrangian description of the structural deformations, stresses, and forces along with an Eulerian description of the momentum, viscosity, and incompressibility of the fluid-structure system. The original immersed boundary methods described immersed elastic structures using systems of flexible fibers, and eve...

This article presents a novel direct Jacobian total Lagrangian explicit dynamics (DJ-TLED) finite element algorithm for real-time nonlinear mechanics simulation. The nodal force contributions are expressed using only the operator, instead of deformation gradient tensor and tensor, fewer computational operations at run-time. Owing to this proposed formulation, expressions developed strain invari...

modelling of crack propagation by finite element method under mixed mode conditions is of prime importance in fracture mechanics. this paper describes an application of finite element method to the analysis of mixed mode crack growth in linear elastic fracture mechanics. crack growth process is simulated by an incremental crack-extension analysis based on the maximum principal stress criterion,...

We use a Lagrangian finite element method to simulate experiments on continued and interrupted extensions of a highly entangled monodisperse polymer melt. It is demonstrated that delayed sample necking or rupture may be explained in terms of the original Doi-Edwards model augmented by the mechanism of chain stretching alone.
