he previous article, “TCP Performance,” examined the operation of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) protocol [1]. The article examined the role of TCP in providing a reliable end-toend data transfer function, and described how TCP incorporates numerous control functions that are intended to make efficient use of the underlying IP network through a host-based congestion control function. C...

In this paper, the synchronizability problem of dynamical networks is addressed, where better synchronizability means that the network synchronizes faster with lower-overshoot. The L2 norm of the error vector e is taken as a performance index to measure this kind of synchronizability. For the equilibrium synchronization case, it is shown that there is a close relationship between the L2 norm of...

This paper presents a numerical solution of the multiple objective control system design problem for SISO systems. An approximation for the free transfer function in the Qparametrization, in terms of controller complexity, is proposed. Two examples are presented to show that the proposed method has the advantage of directly yielding low-order controllers.

Long distance data movement is an essential activity of modern computing. However, the congestion control mechanisms in the Internet’s Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) severely limit the bandwidth achieved by long distance data transfers. The throughput of such transfers can be improved by applying the logistical technique of breaking a single long distance transfer into multiple shorter tra...

This part focuses on the design of full order observer based controllers for the recovery of target loop transfer function or sensitivity and complimentary sensitivity functions for general non-strictly proper, not necessarily left invertible and not necessarily minimum phase systems. For general systems, loop transfer recovery is not completely feasible although there exists considerable amoun...

This paper proposes a simple approach to design a PID controller for an uncertain SISO system that will guarantee closed loop stability when the input is varied between 0 and 60 % of its working range. The Robust Controller design method used here is based on Small Gain theorem. A family of transfer functions corresponding to different working ranges is used to describe the uncertain plant for ...

critical thinking ability has an important role in education. accordingly, scholars around the world are searching for new ways for teaching and improving students critical thinking ability. in line with the studies in efl contexts supporting the positive relationship between critical thinking and writing performances, this study investigated the differential effects of halverson’s critical thi...

This paper wants to present the first reasoning in order to implement on a network a process control application type which is, in a first time, specified with a continuous model (transfer function in the Laplace domain). The network is a local area network and we only consider the MAC layer (frame scheduling) and the physical layer (serial frame transmission). By first reasoning, we mean that,...
