A new species of Burttia Dirsh, B. caerulea sp. nov., is described from the Nguru Mountains Tanzania. It second in genus, both being restricted to Tanzanian localities. Both sylvatica , known only Uluguru Mountains, and nov. are morphologically very similar habitus outer morphology, suggesting a recent speciation.
