Streptococcus pyogenes, is an important human pathogen classified within the pyogenic group of streptococci, exclusively adapted to the human host. Our goal was to employ a comparative evolutionary approach to better understand the genomic events concomitant with S. pyogenes human adaptation. As part of ascertaining these events, we sequenced the genome of one of the potential sister species, t...

objective(s): streptokinase (ska) is an antigenic protein which is secreted by streptococcus pyogenes. streptokinase induces inflammation by complement activation, which may play a role in post infectious diseases. in the present study, recombinant streptokinase from s. pyogenes was produced and showed that recombinant ska protein was recognized by infected human sera using western blot analysi...

Streptococcus pyogenes is one of the most frequent human pathogens. Recent studies have identified dendritic cells (DCs) as important contributors to host defense against S. pyogenes. The objective of this study was to identify the receptors involved in immune recognition of S. pyogenes by DCs. To determine whether Toll-like receptors (TLRs) were involved in DC sensing of S. pyogenes, we evalua...

BACKGROUND Streptococcus pyogenes (S. pyogenes) causes various serious diseases including necrotizing fasciitis and streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. One serious problem observed recently with S. pyogenes therapy is attenuation of the antibiotic effect, especially penicillin treatment failure and macrolide resistance. Hainosankyuto, a traditional Japanese medicine based on ancient Chinese med...

In Belgium, decreasing macrolide, lincosamide, streptogramins B, and tetracycline use during 1997-2007 correlated significantly with decreasing macrolide-resistant Streptococcus pyogenes during 1999-2009. Maintaining drug use below a critical threshold corresponded with low-level macrolide-resistant S. pyogenes and an increased number of erm(A)-harboring emm77 S. pyogenes with low fitness costs.

In a prospective study of acute pharyngitis in Italian children, 69 (38.3%) of 180 isolates of Streptococcus pyogenes were resistant to macrolides. S. pyogenes was eradicated in 12 (63.1%) of 19 patients with erythromycin-resistant S. pyogenes treated with clarithromycin and in 22 (88%) of 25 patients with erythromycin-susceptible strains. The constitutive-resistant phenotype was correlated wit...

objective(s): streptococcus pyogenes produces extracellular hyaluronidase enzyme. this enzyme is directly associated with the spread of the organism during infection. the objective of the present study was to clone and express the nucleotide sequence of the enzyme which is involved in hyaluronidase enzymatic activity. materials and methods: the enzymatic region of hyaluronidase gene was detecte...

Here, we report the draft genome sequences of Bacteroides pyogenes JCM 6294(T), JCM 6292, and JCM 10003, which were isolated from a cat and swine and were recently classified into a single species, B. pyogenes. Comparative analyses of these genomes revealed the diversification of B. pyogenes strains isolated from different animals.

oil from the eucalyptus tree ( eucalyptus camaldulensis l.) is used today in many over the counter cough and cold products, to relieve congestion. eucalyptus oil is also used in creams and ointments to relieve muscle and joint pain, and in some mouthwashes. in this study eucalyptus camaldulensis leaves extracted with water and ethanol 96°and the antimicrobial effects of extracts were evaluated ...
