An iron(III)-catecholate complex of a facial tridentate ligand reacts with dioxygen in the presence of ammonium acetate-acetic acid buffer to cleave the aromatic C-C bond of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol regiospecifically resulting in the formation of an extradiol product with multiple turnovers.

Reaction of excess cyanide with a ruthenium(VI) nitrido complex bearing a tridentate Schiff base ligand produces a novel tricyanoruthenium(III) complex in which nucleophilic substitution of an imine hydrogen of the Schiff base by cyanide has occurred, this complex is a useful building block for the construction of 3d-Ru(III) magnetic materials.

The novel N,N,O-tridentate phenanthroline ligand (BinThro) bearing an axially chiral binaphthyl backbone prepared from BINOL was found to be an effective chiral catalyst for enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to aromatic aldehydes with high enantioselectivity (up to 95% ee).
