asymmetric polyethersulfone (pes) microfiltration flat sheet membranes were composed by the phase inversion method (pim) and were used as supports. composite membranes were fabricated by coating silicone rubber as selective layer. effect of different concentrations of pes and pdms and different solvent such as nmp, dmf and dms effects as pes solvents and support thickness and different coagulat...
Electronic Government (e-government) is a rapidly growing field that gets increasing attention from practitioners and researchers around the world. This attention comes from various disciplines, including public administration, information systems, computer science, political science and organisation research. Over the last decade the field has been maturing, with its own research programs, ded...
Equity across academic disciplines is taken for granted in contemporary business schools. The status of a discipline is crucial for such fairness. One might assume, therefore, that IS scholars are treated fairly during tenure and promotion processes when compared to scholars from other business school academic fields. In fact, this may not be the case. The playing field used by business academi...
The term agent, deriving from the Latin “agens”, identifies someone (or something) who acts; the same word can also be used to define a mean through which some action is made or caused. The term is used in many different fields and disciplines, such as economics, physics, natural sciences, sociology and many others. In computer science, the word is used to define very heterogeneous entities and...
The structure and interrelationships of formal knowledge produced in the scientific disciplines have long been of interest to academics. One increasingly important domain of Information Systems (IS) research is the study of the creation and evolution of knowledge. Recent discourse about the intellectual structure of IS has revealed Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) as an analytic technique that re...
Society’s increasing dependence on complex technology mandates high assurance of system correctness. Traditional engineering disciplines such as civil or mechanical engineering achieve such assurance through application of mathematics to system modeling. ‘The formal nature of mathematics allows practitioners in traditional engineering domains to predict the behavior of systems prior to implemen...
Reliable and accurate measurements serve as the basis for evaluation in many scientific disciplines. Issues related to reliable and accurate measurement have evolved over many decades, dating back to the nineteenth century and the pioneering work of Galton (1886), Pearson (1896, 1899, 1901), and Fisher (1925). Requiring a new measurement to be identical to the truth is often impractical, either...
The relationship between information science and information systems (IS) research is examined through analysis of the subject literature of each field and by citation and co-citation analysis of highly cited researchers in each field. The subfields of user studies (US) and information retrieval (IR) research were selected to represent information science research as these subject areas are cen...
In this paper, we consider the problem of scheduling a nite number of jobs with stochastic wait-dependent processing times. We review the literature on this topic and present some new results. In particular, for certain processing time functions, we nd the policy which stochastically minimizes the makespan of the system.
