This article describes an integrated dualband multi-mode wireless LAN radio frequency power amplifier (Infineon PMB 8825) for 2.45 GHz and 5.25 GHz. The device has been realized in a 42 GHz-fT, 0.35μm SiGe-Bipolar high volume technology. The chip features two single-ended 3-stage power amplifiers for each frequency band and a control section that includes band select, standby and power control ...

This work focuses on design and analysis of microstrip patch antenna as well as effect of slots made on patch antenna to improve the bandwidth. A microstrip line fed, dual slot, triple band, rectangular microstrip patch antenna is designed. The designed antenna is most suited for C band, X band and KU band applications. The return loss is below −10 dB in triple band with 1GHz bandwidth in the r...

ELECT A compact optically controlled ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with reconfigurable band-notched characteristics is investigated for cognitive radio (CR) applications. The rejection mechanism is realised by etching one symmetric folded slot on the U-shaped radiation patch and the essence of the reconfigurable function is achieved by laser controlling photoconductive switches to change the eff...

This paper represents microstrip antenna for dual band applications such as Global Positioning System (GPS) and Bluetooth applications. The designed antenna must perform dual frequency operation i.e. 1.57 GHz and 2.45 GHz. So antenna resonates at frequency 1.57 GHz for GPS and 2.45 GHz for Bluetooth applications. Using CAD-FEKO electromagnetic simulation software, antenna has been optimized for...

Due to the trends for new wideband services we decided to analyse the behaviour of the 60 GHz communication channel. In this paper we presented our conclusions of the 60 GHz communication channel behaviour based on the behaviour of 18 GHz communication channels. Due to the lack of very expensive and necessary equipment we decided to assume the behaviour of 60 GHz channel based on measurements a...

Analysis of the resonance response improvement of a planar C-band (4-8 GHz) antenna is proposed using parasitic element method. This parasitic element based method is validated for change in the active and parasitic antenna elements. A novel dual-band antenna for C-band application covering 5.7 GHz and 7.6 GHz is designed and fabricated. The antenna is composed of circular parasitic element wit...

Abstract: A novel reconfigurable patch antenna for frequency diversity is proposed by reconfiguring its geometry using tree rectangular tapes that are connected to the patch via six RF MEMS switches. So switching between the different frequency bands is achieved by using capacitive series RF-MEMS switches. The antenna was designed to operate at 2.6 GHz, 3.1 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5 GHz.

This paper describes the design of CMOS millimeterwave voltage controlled oscillators. Varactor, transistor, and inductor designs are optimized to reduce the parasitic capacitances. An investigation of tradeoff between quality factor and tuning range for MOS varactors at 24 GHz has shown that the polysilicon gate lengths between 0.18 and 0.24 m result both good quality factor ( 12) and max min ...

We present a status report of an ongoing effort to develop robust tunable all-solid-state sources up to 1900 GHz for the Heterodyne Instrument for the Far Infrared (HIFI) on the Herschel Space Observatory. GaAs based multi-chip power amplifier modules at W-band are used to drive cascaded chains of multipliers. We have demonstrated performance from chains comprised of four doublers up to 1600 GH...

This paper presents a design of an impedance transformer (IT) with high frequency selectivity characteristics. The frequency selectivity can be controlled by evenand odd-mode impedance of a shunt coupled transmission line (TL). For experimental validation, a 50to 20Ω IT was implemented at a center frequency (f0) of 2.6 GHz for the long-term evolution signal. The measured results were in good ag...
