Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of severe respiratory illness in infants. At this young age, infants typically depend on maternally transferred antibodies (matAbs) and their innate immune system for protection against infections. RSV-specific matAbs are thought to protect from severe illness, yet severe RSV disease occurs mainly below 6 months of age, when neutralizing ma...

IMPORTANCE In 2011, an estimated 26.8 million US adults used prescription medications for mental illness. OBJECTIVE To estimate the numbers and rates of adverse drug event (ADE) emergency department (ED) visits involving psychiatric medications among US adults between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2011. DESIGN AND SETTING Descriptive analyses of active, nationally representative surveil...

We have carried out a picosecond fluorescence study of holo- and apoazurins of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (azurin Pae), Alcaligenes faecilis (azurin Afe), and Alcaligenes denitrificans (azurin Ade). Azurin Pae contains a single, buried tryptophyl residue; azurin Afe, a single surface tryptophyl residue; and azurin Ade, tryptophyl residues in both environments. From anisotropy measurements we conclu...

This paper reviews extant agent applications and describes the Agent Development Environment (ADE) toolkit. ADE is the integrated development environment to design, develop, debug, simulate and deploy agents. ADE supports the development of multi-agent applications capable of running on a single machine or on a distributed network. ADE has been used to build commercial applications in the area ...

Concern that ADE of HIV infection could occur in vivo, as a result of HIV immunization, has arisen for several reasons. Immune-mediated disease enhancement occurs in several human and animal viral diseases, including lentiviral diseases. Tropism for host M/M cells is a common characteristic in these diseases. Sera from naturally infected, and possibly HIV-immunized, individuals have been shown ...

Dengue virus (DENV) co-circulates as four serotypes (DENV1-4). Primary infection only leads to self-limited dengue fever. But secondary infection with another serotype carries a higher risk of increased disease severity, causing life-threatening dengue hemorrhagic fever/dengue shock syndrome (DHF/DSS). Serotype cross-reactive antibodies facilitate DENV infection in Fc-receptor-bearing cells by ...

BACKGROUND We assessed whether medication safety improved when a medication profiling program was added to a computerized provider order entry system. DESIGN Between June 2001 and January 2002 we profiled outpatients with potential prescribing errors using computerized retrospective drug utilization software. We focused primarily on drug interactions. Patients were randomly assigned either to...

We show that the Higgs branch of a four-dimensional Yang-Mills theory, with gauge and matter content summarised by an ADE quiver diagram, is identical to the generalised Coulomb branch of a four-dimensional superconformal strongly coupled gauge theory with ADE global symmetry. This equivalence suggests the existence of a mirror symmetry between the quiver theories and the strongly coupled theor...

This paper presents a new method for simulation of power bipolar devices. The method is based on the solution of the Ambipolar Diffusion Equation (ADE) with a finite element (FE) [ 1 ] approach. This one allows analog solutions for ADE through an equivalent electrical network. So the method could constitute the core for power bipolar devices simulation into any electrical circuit simulator.
