Malassezia pachydermatis is a basidiomycetous yeast that causes infections in humans and animals. Here, we report the genome sequence of Malassezia pachydermatis strain CBS 1879, which will facilitate the study of mechanisms underlying pathogenicity of the only non-lipid-dependent Malasezzia species.

Details are provided of hybridisation between Polyommatus icarus (Rottemburg, 1775) from East Sussex (UK) and P. celina (Austaut, 1879) Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain) under laboratory conditions. Comments also made on natural hybrids Melitaea phoebe M. ornata occurring in Slovenia.

Iolanthe Beddard, 1886a is shown to be a senior synonyn of Acanthaspidia Stebbing, 1893, the replacement name for the preoccupied Acanthoniscus Sars, 1879 (Isopoda: Asellota: Acanthaspidiidae). Ischnomesus kussakini nom. nov. is erected as a replacement name for Ischnomesus antarcticus (Kussakin, 1982), preoccupied in this combination (Isopoda: Asellota: Ischnomesidae).
