Exact optimal paths are calculated for two closed economies, each with an accumulable capital, a non-renewable resource and exogenous technical progress. The first economy has hyperbolic discounting and (possibly) hyperbolic technical progress. On its optimal path, generally, welfare-equivalent income > wealth-equivalent income > Sefton-Weale income > NNP; and sustainable income = NNP only if c...

In the preceding Comment it is alleged that a " hidden loophole " in the proof of Hara's theorem has been found, which purportedly invalidates the conclusions of the paper commented upon. I show that there is no such loophole in the constituent quark model, and that the " counterexample " presented in the Comment is not gauge invariant.

ABSTRACT Re ent work has made mu h of using semanti knowledge, derived in parti ular from domain ontologies, for improving text learning tasks. Semanti knowledge is assumed to apture more in-depth knowledge of the text domain in omparison with onventional statisti s-based methods that an only rely on more surfa e vo abulary-spe i hara teristi s of a data set. Therefore, using semanti knowledge ...

Hara and Massey [1] have investigated the annihilation of positrons in Ar-CO mixtures while the present author studied the behaviour of positrons in the noble gas mixtures (Ne + Ar) [2] and (He-)-Ar) [3]. It has been found that the annihilation decay constant, A, depends quite sensitively on the nature of the gas mixture. Our calculations [3] indicate that it will be quite interesting to explor...

Abstra t|Speedup is one of the main performan e hara teristi s of distributed appli ations. It is de ned as the ratio of appli ation's exe ution time on a single pro essor to the exe ution time, of the same workload, on a system omposed on N pro essors. This paper analyzes, in very general terms, the speedup that an be a hieved in distributed environments and shows why some appli ations s ale v...

Systolic and diastolic blood pressures (BPs) have a strong, continuous, graded, and etiologically significant positive association with cardiovascular disease outcomes. Small reductions in systolic and diastolic BP lead to large and proportionate reductions in ischemic heart disease, stroke, and vascular mortality. A recently reported meta-analysis of nearly a million people without pre-existin...
