This study represents the first report on the chemical composition and biological activity of Trifolium angustifolium var. angustifolium. The major components of the essential oil were identified as hexatriacontene (23.0%), arachidic acid (15.5%) and α-selinene (10.0%). The main constituents of the fatty acid obtained from the petroleum ether extract were identified as palmitic acid (29.8%), li...

We investigate exact enlarged controllability for time fractional diffusion systems of Riemann–Liouville type. The Hilbert uniqueness method is used to prove exact enlarged controllability for both cases of zone and pointwise actuators. A penalization method is given and the minimum energy control is characterized.

We consider a fractional program with both linear and quadratic equation in numerator and denominator  having second order cone (SOC) constraints. With a suitable change of variable, we transform the problem into a  second order cone programming (SOCP)  problem.  For the quadratic fractional case, using a relaxation, the problem is reduced to a semi-definite optimization (SDO) program. The p...

Efficient synaptic transmission requires the apposition of neurotransmitter release sites opposite clusters of postsynaptic neurotransmitter receptors. Transmitter is released at active zones, which are composed of a large complex of proteins necessary for synaptic development and function. Many active zone proteins have been identified, but little is known of the mechanisms that ensure that ea...

This note introduces an extension to the 0-1 knapsack cover inequalities to be used in a branchand-cut algorithm for the elementary shortest path problem with a capacity constraint. The extension leads to a set of valid inequalities that takes both the fractional usage of the edges and the capacity into account and are denoted the flow extended 0-1 knapsack cover inequalities. Computational exp...

Presynaptic active zones play a pivotal role as synaptic vesicle release sites for synaptic transmission, but the molecular architecture of active zones in mammalian neuromuscular junctions (NMJs) at sub-diffraction limited resolution remains unknown. Bassoon and Piccolo are active zone specific cytosolic proteins essential for active zone assembly in NMJs, ribbon synapses, and brain synapses. ...

Shortages of vaccines such as inactivated poliovirus and yellow fever vaccines have been addressed by administering reduced-or fractional-doses, as recommended by the World Health Organization Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization, to expand population coverage in countries at risk. We evaluated 3 kinds of vaccine vial stoppers to assess their performance after increased piercing ...

Coastal waters are severely threatened by nitrogen (N) loading from direct groundwater discharge. The subterranean estuary, the mixing zone of fresh groundwater and sea water in a coastal aquifer, has a high potential to remove substantial N. A network of piezometers was used to characterize the denitrification capacity and groundwater flow paths in the subterranean estuary below a Rhode Island...

From three-dimensional reconstructions of CA1 excitatory synapses in the rodent hippocampus and in culture, we have estimated statistical distributions of active zone and postsynaptic density (PSD) sizes (average area approximately 0.04 micron2), the number of active zones per bouton (usually one), the number of docked vesicles per active zone (approximately 10), and the total number of vesicle...

Diffusion tensor microimaging at 16.4 T with 40µm isotropic voxels was to investigate anisotropic water diffusion in prostate tissue at spatial resolution approaching the cellular scale. Nine normal tissue and two cancer samples were collected from the peripheral zone of six formalin fixed radical prostatectomy specimens. Fibromuscular stromal tissue exhibited microscopic diffusion anisotropy (...
