Experimental study was conducted to assess personal welding fumes exposure toward welders during an aluminum metal inert gas (MIG) process. The welding process was carried out by a welding machine attached to a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) workbench. A dummy welder was used to replicate welder during welding works and was attached with sampling pumps and filter cassettes for welding fumes s...

A prototype of autonomous mobile robot with two vision sensors for automatic welding of steel plates was constructed. The robot can move straight, steer and turn around the robot center by controlling the driving speed of the two wheels respectively. At the tip of the movable arm, two CCD cameras are fixed. A local camera observes the welding line near the welding torch and another wide camera ...

Since the control system of the welding gun pose in whole‐position welding is complicated and nonlinear, an intelligent control system of welding gun pose for a pipeline welding robot based on an improved radial basis function neural network (IRBFNN) and expert system (ES) is presented in this paper. The structure of the IRBFNN is constructed and the improved genetic algorithm is a...

Welding is one of the most widely used permanent joining technologies in assembly. As with other manufacturing processes, manufacturing feasibility and efficiency of weld components should be considered early in the part design stages to avoid costly redesign and delay. While there have been considerable research interests in weldability assessment and predictive modeling of welding distortion,...

In order to automatically control the quality of the welding process, this paper concentrates on the problem of three dimensional surface reconstructions for the welding pool. As the relationships between size and shape of the welding pool are very complex and nonlinear, we utilize the fuzzy neural network to solve the proposed problem. In the fuzzy neural network, the input vector with 48 dime...

Welding fume contains elements that, in their pure forms, can be hazardous to worker health if inhaled or ingested. Therefore, the chemical composition of welding fume must be examined when considering fume toxicity. Various chemical analysis techniques are presented and their applicability to airborne particles is described. Knowledge of particle size is important because a given characterizat...

The emission of dusts and gases, which are generated during tubular cored wire welding and which are hazardous to health and the environment, were studied. Tests included various kinds of tubular electrode wires used for welding steel, that is, rutile flux cored wires, basic flux cored wires, and metal cored wires for welding unalloyed, low-alloy, and high-alloy steels as well as self-shielded ...

Automation of welding process in shipyard is ultimately necessary, since welding site is spatially enclosed by floors and girders, and therefore welding operators are exposed to hostile working conditions. To solve this problem, a welding robot that can navigate autonomously within the enclosure needs to be developed. To achieve the welding task, the robotic welding system needs a sensor system...

Abstract In this paper, the effect of ultrasonic peening surface treatment on mechanical properties TIG butt weld joints low-carbon steel (AISI 1020) was studied. A single V-angle ( 45 °) made sheets metal used then welded at constant parameters, namely: current, voltage. Wire filler ER70S-3 with argon to obtain many welding joints. Some them were subjected one, two and three passes. The micro-...

A system is presented that allows the visualization of the whole welding process. Factors that can lead to bad welds can be monitored. Methods to optimize the welding process are outlined and a possible "on-line control" is discussed. In addition, schemes are presented for the analysis of the welding process to identify defects in the welding equipment that will cause faulty welds.
