We present and evaluate an automatic tool for extracting algebraic specifications from Java classes. Our tool maps a Java class to an algebraic signature and then uses the signature to generate a large number of terms. The tool evaluates these terms and based on the results of the evaluation, it proposes equations. Finally, the tool generalizes equations to axioms and eliminates many redundant ...

Associative learning theories offer one account of the way animals and humans assess the relationship between events and adapt their behavior according to resulting expectations. They assume knowledge about event relations is represented in associative networks, which consist of mental representations of cues and outcomes and the associative links that connect them. However, in human causal and...

following the recent work of the authors in development and numerical verification of a new kinematic approach of the limit analysis for surface footings on non-associative materials, a practical procedure is proposed to utilize the theory. it is known that both the peak friction angle and dilation angle depend on the sand density as well as the stress level, which was not the concern of the fo...

Let φ and ψ be endomorphisms of the projective line of degree at least 2, defined over a field F . From a dynamical perspective, a significant question is to determine whether φ and ψ are conjugate (or to answer the related question of whether a given rational function φ has a nontrivial automorphism). We construct efficient algorithms for computing the set of conjugating maps (resp., the group...

We investigate certain classes of normal completely positive (CP) maps on the hyperfinite II1 factor A. Using the representation theory of a suitable irrational rotation algebra, we propose some computable invariants for such CP maps.

The results of batch settling tests (BST) are used to investigate settling behavior of solids suspension, which contribute to sizing thickeners. Conventional methods in analyzing BST on the basis of visual and graphical procedures lead to sub-optimally sized and selected thickeners. A computational approach based on quantitative analysis of BST can be beneficial. About 300 settling experiments ...

The problem of integrating territorial information within a multisensor vision system for autonomous-vehicle control is addressed. Environmental information is used to improve recognition results and to locate a vehicle's position in the coordinate reference frame of a map. To this end, a hypothesis-and-test search mechanism has been developed, which is based on an associative phase and a symbo...
