Causal variational principles on measure spaces are introduced. General existence results are proved. It is shown in examples that minimizers need not be unique. Counter-examples to compactness are discussed. The existence results are applied to variational principles formulated in indefinite inner product spaces.
In this note we give a result for the operator p-Laplacian complementing a theorem by Brézis and Kamin concerning a necessary and sufficient condition for the equation −∆u = h(x)u in IR , where 0 < q < 1, to have a bounded positive solution. While Brézis and Kamin use the method of sub and super solutions, we employ variational arguments for the existence of solutions.
We use variational methods to give a positive answer to a conjecture posed by Liqun Qi [4] regarding the real eigenvalues of certain higher order tensors.
In this article, we prove the existence of solutions to mixed twopoint boundary-value problem for impulsive differential equations by variational methods, in both resonant and the non resonant cases.
