Given a prediction of opponent behavior in a general-sum two-player normal form game, it is difficult to select a strategy that balances the opportunity to use the prediction to inform one’s action with the risk of becoming predictable. We propose Restricted Stackelberg Response with Safety (RSRS), a novel way of generating such a strategy. RSRS uses an r-safe Stackelberg equilibrium in a modif...

Cross-linguistically, prefixes and suffixes differ in both frequency and in phonological behavior. These differences could plausibly have their source in listeners’ subjective perceptual experiences of prefixes and suffixes, an idea that we pursued using a noise-rating task in Spanish. Participants heard minimally-different Spanish words such asme patea ‘s/he kicks me’ versus patéame ‘kick me’,...

Skewed trees constitute a two-parameter family of recursively constructed trees. Recently, Willemson proved that suitably picked skewed trees are space-optimal for interval time-stamping. At the same time, Willemson proposed a practical but suboptimal algorithm for nonrecursive traversal of skewed trees. We describe an alternative, extremely efficient traversal algorithm for skewed trees. The n...

We consider a general reinforcement learning problem and show that carefully combining the Bayesian optimal policy and an exploring policy leads to minimax sample-complexity bounds in a very general class of (history-based) environments. We also prove lower bounds and show that the new algorithm displays adaptive behaviour when the environment is easier than worst-case.

BACKGROUND By matching needs to resource services, case management could be a useful tool for improving the care of older people with complex living conditions. Collecting and analysing the users' experiences represents a good way to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of a case-management service. However, in the literature, fieldwork is very rarely considered and the users included in q...

This paper proposes a conformance test method for Management Information Base (MIB) and discusses an implementation and an evaluation of a MIB tester. The proposed test method is based on and an extension of the existing conformance test method for protocol entity. We show the practical solution to the scope of testing by conducting the capability test to all test cases and the behaviour test l...

Although the commercial availability and implementation of virtual reality interfaces has seen rapid growth in recent years, little research has been conducted on the potential for virtual reality to affect consumer behavior. One unaddressed issue is how our real world attitudes are affected when we have a virtual experience with the target of those attitudes. This study compared participant (N...

Background and Aim: Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common problems in females. “Theory of Planned Behavior” is one of the important theories that explains the main process of adopting health behaviors. The present study assessed applying “ the Theory of Planned Behavior in relaxation training regarding the  severity and duration of painful dysmenorrhea in Mashhad girl students. Materials an...

Background: Children and adolescents more than other age groups need adequate and healthy nutrition to achieve optimal physical growth and mental development. Children need nutritional education to obtain necessary skills for choosing proper foods to consume. This research aimed to survey the Effects of education on nutritional knowledge and behavior in elementary school students in Torbat...

This research group has been working towards building an environment which helps software development, providing support to some activities based on use case model. Prior to our enrollment in this research, the environment supported use case construction, requirements document analysis, requirements traceability and use case points estimation. In this paper it is presented a strategy to generat...
