A taxonomic review of the genus Ceresium (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) found within the Fiji Islands is presented. A total of 17 species is treated. Full morphological descriptions and comparative images of each species are included, along with a dichotomous key for their identification.
The biology and mating behaviour of the spectacularly large and brightly coloured Neotropical longhorn beetle Schwarzerion holochlorum Bates 1872 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is largely unknown. For the first time I report and photographically document violent male-male competitions for females involving frequent amputations of competitors’ legs and antennae.
The family Stephanidae (Hymenoptera, Stephanoidea) is recorded for the first time for the Egyptian fauna, with one species, Foenatopus bisignatus Aguiar & Jennings, 2010. A single specimen was collected among Acacia raddiana trees infested with Agrilus roscidus Kiesenwetter (Coleoptera, Buprestidae), which represents a likely new host record.
The first species of the mastigite genus Clidicus Laporte (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Scydmaeninae) from China is described, under the name of Clidicus chinensis n. sp. The type material has been collected in Jianfengling (Hainan prov.); the habitus, aedeagus and spermatheca of the new species are illustrated.
Cochabambia Marcuzzi (1985) (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) is a junior homonym of Cochabambia Pirán, 1959 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Acanthosomatidae). Allotriocochabambia is proposed as a new name for the tenebrionid genus, and as result Allotriocochabambia kulzeri (1985) is proposed as new combination. The placement of Cochabambia Pirán within the Acanthosomatidae is discussed.
A bibliography of significant taxonomic papers on Elmidae (Coleoptera, Polyphaga, Byrrhoidea), and a checklist of valid species and subspecies and their geographic distributions are provided. Forty-seven genera and 430 valid species are included. Maps show the geographic distribution of the genera by country.
A new species of Tarphius Erichson, 1845 (Coleoptera: Zopheridae, Solier, 1834) is described from Morocco. Tarphius isabelae n. sp. is the fifth Tarphius species recorded in North Africa. In addition, we present some information on the Iberian species, Tarphius kiesenwetteri Heyden, 1870.
The conundrum of Ptomaphagus (s. str.) sibiricus Jeannel, 1934 (Coleoptera, Leiodidae, Cholevinae, Ptomaphagini) is solved, and it is redescribed and newly recorded in South Korea. A new species is also described from the Russian Far East: Ptomaphagus (s. str.) hayashii sp. n. Relevant morphological characters of the concerned species are illustrated with colour plates, and their known distribu...
Cephalocyclus moroni new species (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Aphodiinae) from humid forest in the mountains of Manantlán, Jalisco, Mexico is described and illustrated. It is similar to Cephalocyclus ordonezi Dellacasa, Dellacasa, & Gordon, 2007 and Cephalocyclus stebnickae Deloya & Ibañez-Bernal, 2000, both from Mexico.
