A new error criterion for the design of FIR filters is proposed. Filters with relatively many free filter coefficients are designed using the Chebyshev, the WLS, and a new partitioned minimax error criterion and the performance of the filters is compared. A general and fast technique for the WLS design is also presented.
The early computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems were relied exclusively on subtractive methods. In recent years, additive methods by employing rapid prototyping (RP) have progressed rapidly in various fields of dentistry as they have the potential to overcome known drawbacks of subtractive techniques such as fit problems. RP techniques have been exploited to build...
The most common fitness evaluation for Bayesian networks in the presence of data is the Cooper-Herskovitz criterion. This technique involves massive amounts of data and, therefore, expansive computations. We propose a cheaper alternative evaluation method using simplified assumptions which produces evaluations that are strongly correlated with the Cooper-Herskovitz criterion .
To find a more effective method for the assessment of sustainable urban transport development, the comprehensive assessment model of sustainable urban transport development was established based on the unascertained measure. On the basis of considering the factors influencing urban transport development, the comprehensive assessment indexes were selected, including urban economical development,...
In recent years, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems designed to work in controlled environments using clean speech have reached very high levels of performance. However, the accuracy of speech recognition degrades severely when the systems are operated in noisy environments. In this thesis we address the problem of single-channel speech enhancement. Starting with a study of the state-of...
In this paper a comprehensive survey of the different methods of generating discrete probability distributions as analogues of continuous probability distributions is presented along with their applications in construction of new discrete distributions. The methods are classified based on different criterion of discretization.
Testing methods for drugs currently require long chromatographic methods and sample preparation or immunoassay techniques (EMIT) with confirmation by GC/MS or LC/MS/MS. These methods can be timeconsuming and laborious. The majority of urine testing methods cover only a limited number of metabolites, since reference standards are poorly available, making it difficult to keep up with the changing...
In this paper a mixed method by combining an evolutionary and a conventional technique is proposed for reduction of Single Input Single Output (SISO) continuous systems into Reduced Order Model (ROM). In the conventional technique, the mixed advantages of Mihailov stability criterion and continued Fraction Expansions (CFE) technique is employed where the reduced denominator polynomial is derive...
An alternative approach to the use of Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) reconstruction is the use of parametric modeling technique. This method is suitable for problems in which the image can be modeled by explicit known source functions with a few adjustable parameters. Despite the success reported in the use of modeling technique as an alternative MRI recon...
A new method for color image segmentation using fuzzy logic is proposed in this paper. Our aim here is to automatically produce a fuzzy system for color classification and image segmentation with least number of rules and minimum error rate. Particle swarm optimization is a sub class of evolutionary algorithms that has been inspired from social behavior of fishes, bees, birds, etc, that live to...
