BACKGROUND Neuro-imaging is generally considered as part of the evaluation of seizures and epilepsy. There is limited information about its usefulness in our environment. We describe the pattern of CT findings in children with seizures in our environment. METHOD We carried out a retrospective review of the computerized tomography findings in children with recurrent seizures over a one year pe...

In this work we apply reversible integer wavelet transform to lossless compression of computerized tomography projections (sinograms). Lossy image compression methods can achieve high compression ratios, but sinograms should not loose information during compression process to not affect the image reconstruction.
We demonstrate the use of computerized tomography colonography for the imaging of intestinal endometriosis to facilitate preoperative management in our hospital setting.
PURPOSE To study the imaging exams more commonly used for abdominal aortic aneurysms evaluation - ultrasonography, conventional computerized tomography, helical computerized tomography and nuclear magnetic angioresonance - comparing the preoperative measurements reached by those radiological methods with the measurements made during the surgical procedures. METHODS Patients who had indication...
Malignant bone tumors of the chest wall and sternum are more rare because most bone tumors occur in the long bones or joints.Osteosarcoma (OS) is a malignant bone tumor that occurs in the second or third decade of life. The men/women ratio is about 3:2 and half of the tumors occur near the knee. The most commonly occurring malignant tumor in sternum is chondrosarcoma and occurrence of osteosarc...
The authors would like to express their appreciation to the following people who contributed greatly to this project. Dr. Nathaniel Alpert, Ph.D., and associates of the Physics Research Division, Department of Radiology for the computer aspects of radionuclide imaging. Mr. William H. Shea, Jr., and Mr. Ronald J. Callahan of the Division of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Radiology, and the tech...
Cardiac computerized tomography (CT) has evolved from a research tool to an important diagnostic investigation in cardiology, and is now recommended in European, US, and UK guidelines. This review is designed to give the reader an overview of the current state of cardiac CT. The role of cardiac CT is multifaceted, and includes risk stratification, disease detection, coronary plaque quantificati...
Two patients with the diagnosis of brain death were evaluated with computerized axial tomography (CAT). After intravenous infusion of 30% Conray there was no visualization of the intracranial vasculature (circle of Willis). The second patient also had an isoelectric EEG. A third patient with an intracerebral lesion similar to the other cases but without diagnosis of brain death, showed good vis...
Computerized axial tomography using the EMI scanner as a new method of using x-rays in diagnosis. The technique displays intracranial and orbital structures in the transverse plane. The appearances of normal EMI Scans are described and correlated with cerebral and orbital anatomy seen in transverse section.
