Earthquakes can cause serious damage to traffic infrastructures, among which the impact on bridge structure is most important. Therefore, in order assess bridges serviceability, it important master their mechanism and analyze its probability of occurrence under a given seismic action. Various uncertainties, like location epicentre future earthquakes magnitudes, make this task quite challenging....

We present a new way to take advantage of the dis-criminative power of Learning Vector Quantization in combination with continuous density hidden Markov models. This is based on viewing LVQ as a non-linear feature transformation. Class-wise quantization errors of LVQ are modeled by continuous density HMMs, whereas the practice in the literature regarding LVQ/HMM hybrids is to use LVQ-codebooks ...

in this paper we introduce and study besselian $g$-frames. we show that the kernel of associated synthesis operator for a besselian $g$-frame is finite dimensional. we also introduce $alpha$-dual of a $g$-frame and we get some results when we use the hilbert-schmidt norm for the members of a $g$-frame in a finite dimensional hilbert space.

in this paper a particular case of z-ideals, called strongly z-ideal, is defined by introducing zero sets in pointfree topology. we study strongly z-ideals, their relation with z-ideals and the role of spatiality in this relation. for strongly z-ideals, we analyze prime ideals using the concept of zero sets. moreover, it is proven that the intersection of all zero sets of a prime ideal of c(l),...

Discrepancy between discrete models and continuous theoretical ones is a common concern with the behavior laws of matter. We propose an alternative frame in which the transition from a discrete to a continuous model becomes very natural. A statistical description of matter laws is given in this contexte.

In automatic speech analysis, voicing articulatory is often defined as a binary decision: voiced or unvoiced. Linguists agree that this articulatory should be continuous. In this paper, we present a new approach to compute a continuous voicing indicator of a speech frame. This voicing percentage is then evaluated in both a segmentation process and a speech recognition task. Promising results sh...
