Self-standing single crystalline NiCo2S4 hollow nanorod arrays are prepared for catalysing the polysulfide redox couple in quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs). The QDSCs using NiCo2S4 as a counter electrode (CE) achieved a power conversion efficiency of 4.22%, which exceeds the performance of QDSCs based on a Pt CE by 38.4%.

Tungsten dioxide (WO(2)) nanorods were synthesized, which showed excellent catalytic activity for the reduction of triiodide to iodide. The dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) using WO(2) as a counter electrode (CE) reached a high energy conversion efficiency of 7.25%, which can match the performance of the DSC based on a Pt CE.

A surface modification of interdigitated gold microelectrodes (IDEs) with a doped polypyrrole (PPy) film for detection of dopamine released from populations of differentiated PC12 cells is presented. A thin PPy layer was potentiostatically electropolymerized from an aqueous pyrrole solution onto electrode surfaces. The conducting polymer film was doped during electropolymerization by introducin...

In this paper, extract of papaya leaves are used as a natural dye and combined by variations of solvent concentration applied on DSSC (Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell). Indonesian geographic located on the equator line occasions the magnitude of the potential to develop organic solar cells made from extracts of chlorophyll as a substitute for inorganic materials or synthetic dye on DSSC material. Dye...

All living organisms bear its defense mechanism. Immune cells during invasion by foreign body undergoes phagocytosis during which monocyte and neutrophil produces reactive oxygen species (ROS). The ROS generated in animal cells are known to be involved in several diseases and ailments, when generated in excess. Therefore, if the ROS generated in cells can be measured and analyzed precisely, it ...

We report on top-illuminated, fluorine tin oxide/indium tin oxide-free (FTO/ITO-free), dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) using room-temperature-processed ZnO layers on metal substrates as the working electrodes and Pt-coated Ga-doped ZnO layers (GZO) as the counter electrodes. These top-illuminated DSCs with GZO render comparable efficiency to those employing commercial FTO counter electrodes. ...

A composite catalyst of rosin carbon/Fe3O4 with marvellous morphology was synthesized and applied as a counter electrode (CE) in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), demonstrating notable electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of I3(-). Based on this CE, a high power conversion efficiency of 8.11% was achieved, comparable to that of the traditional Pt CE.

We report CVD-grown p-doped three-dimensional graphene nano-networks (3D-GNs) that provide superior performance to Pt as a counter electrode material in dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The 3D-GN based DSSC exhibits a maximum photoconversion efficiency of 8.46%, which is 6.01% greater than that exhibited by Pt based DSSCs.

Molybdenum sulfide (MoS(2)) and tungsten sulfide (WS(2)) are proposed as counter electrode (CE) catalysts in a I(3)(-)/I(-) and T(2)/T(-) based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) system. The I(3)(-)/I(-) based DSCs using MoS(2) and WS(2) CEs achieved power conversion efficiencies of 7.59% and 7.73%, respectively.

Here for the first time, we demonstrate novel DSSCs with a Pt- and TCO-free counter electrode, which have a highly conductive polymer exhibiting high catalytic ability and charge transport, and the photovoltaic performance increases as we increase the PEDOT film conductivity.
