MILA–T (MILA–Tutoring) is constructed to give students explicit instruction on scientific modeling and inquiry, intending in part to help cultivate positive attitudes toward science. The results of a two-week controlled experiment using MILA–T in middle school classroom show a significant effect of MILA–T on students' attitudes towards science.

As many states are slated to soon use scores derived from classroom observation instruments in high-stakes decisions, developers must cultivate methods for improving the functioning of these instruments. We describe a novel, easy-to-prepare liquid medium for the fast and reliable growth of several Bartonella spp. that does not affect bacterial protein expression patterns or interactions with host cells.

Anaplasma phagocytophilum is a zoonotic tick-borne intracellular bacterium responsible for granulocytic anaplasmosis. As it is difficult to isolate and cultivate, only 20 A. phagocytophilum genomes have been sequenced to date. Here, we present eight A. phagocytophilum genome sequences obtained using alternative approaches based on sequence capture technology.
