one of the new techniques applied in the drying process of food stuffs that can increase the drying rate, enhanced the product quality, and while decresing the costs of processing is an application of infrared radiational energy. in this study the thin layer drying process of button mushroom was modeled through an infrared applied drying method. drying experiments with sliced samples of button ...

The effects of three storage temperatures (1, 3, and 5 1C) were determined on the quality of the edible mushroom Agrocybe chaxingu stored in modified atmosphere packages (MAP) with and without (control) silicon gum film windows. Results showed that the storage temperature had clear effects on headspace gas concentrations of O2, CO2 and ethylene, sensory characteristics, respiration rate, ascorb...

Janthinobacterium agaricidamnosum causes soft-rot disease of the cultured button mushroom Agaricus bisporus and is thus responsible for agricultural losses. Here, we present the genome sequence of J. agaricidamnosum DSM 9628. The 5.9-Mb genome harbors several secondary metabolite biosynthesis gene clusters, which renders this neglected bacterium a promising source for genome mining approaches.

Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) gene is known to be expressed in plants, and is involved in the differentiation, growth and synthesis of secondary metabolites. However, its expression in fungi remains to be explored. To understand its expression in mushroom fungi, the PAL gene of the edible mushroom Flammulina velutipes (Fvpal) was cloned and characterized. The cloned Fvpal consists of 2,175 ...

The diversity of wild mushrooms was investigated from two protected forest areas in India and 231 mushroom specimens were morphologically identified. Among them, 76 isolates were screened for their antimicrobial potential against seven bacterial and fungal pathogens. Out of 76 isolates, 45 isolates which displayed significant antimicrobial activities were identified using ITS rRNA gene amplific...

the white button mushroom, agaricus bisporus, is a commercially important cultivated filamentous fungus. strain stability is of great importance to both spawn producers and mushroom growers. mushroom strains are usually propagated via vegetative method on nutritionally rich substrates. abnormal growth and poor yield ‎are the consequences of this replication method. the reason for this phenomeno...

abstract in composting process for the white button mushroom, in addition to chemical reactions of complex compounds present in straw, which provide simple compounds for the mushroom, thermophilic microorganisms, having accumulated n2 and inorganic matter during the composting processes, offer the microbial biomass as a secondary nutritional source to be consumed by the fungus agaricus bisporus...
