Eggshell is the most abundant agricultural (hatchery) and industrial (confectionary) natural waste approximately reaching up to 50000 tons per year a threat environment public. membrane shell can be used for biomedical applications as value-added products. Hence, scoping review was planned understand present scenario knowledge gap; it also explored eggshell separation methods available commerci...

A method was developed using high-performance liquid chromatography to assay 4,4'-dinitrocarbanilide (DNC), the active ingredient in Nicarbazin, in eggshells collected from Canada geese fed a formulated feed fortified with Nicarbazin at doses of 0, 125, 250, and 500 microg/g. The method was developed using chicken eggshells fortified with DNC. The method was used to quantify DNC in both the she...

Currently, the egg industry is experiencing a shift in demand for eggs from cage-free environments. This study aims to evaluate quality parameters of white laid several different housing environments utilized industry. Egg battery cages, barren colony enriched cages and pens were compared. Overall, most found be across Battery produced heaviest with highest Haugh unit (p < 0.05). Cage-free h...

A total of 1,152 Lohmann Brown laying hens were used to study the influence of level (3.5 and 4.0%) and source (coded FIN, COA, and OYS) of Ca in the diet on productive performance and egg quality from 58 to 73 wk of age. The FIN diet contained all the Ca carbonate as fine limestone (LIM). In the COA and OYS diets, 40% of the fine LIM was substituted with either coarse LIM or oyster shell. Each...

Seventy-three billion chicken eggs are produced annually in the United States. However, less than 0.1% of these eggs are exported. Increasing the shelf-life of eggs may increase export sales. The goal of this research was to determine whether food-grade coatings on eggs may extend shelf-life under refrigerated storage. Four food-grade coatings were selected: paraffin wax, mineral oil, soy prote...

A series of four paired-house studies was conducted in Arkansas, Alabama, and Georgia (two farms) to determine the efficacy of Mucosal Starter Culture (MSC) in eliminating or reducing salmonellae in broiler chickens. Randomly designated chicks were treated twice with MSC. First they were sprayed with an MSC solution using a spray vaccination cabinet in the hatchery, and then they received MSC i...

The avian eggshell is a highly ordered calcitic bioceramic composite, with both inorganic and organic constituents. The interactions between the inorganic and organic components within the structure are poorly understood but are likely to occur at the nanometre level. Thus structural variation at this level may impinge on the overall structural integrity and mechanical performance of the eggshe...

OBJECTIVE An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of superdosing phytase on productive performance and egg quality in laying hens. METHODS A total of 200 42-wk-old Hy-Line Brown laying hens were allotted into 1 of 5 dietary treatments with 5 replicates consisting of 8 hens per replicate. The positive control (PC) and negative control diets (NC) were prepared based on the recommend...

We analyzed the prevalence of thermotolerant Campylobacter spp. compared that of to Salmonella spp. in raw yolk and on eggshells. A total of 2,710 eggs were investigated for each bacterium. Viable bacteria were found in 4.1% (Campylobacter spp.) and 1.1% (Salmonella spp.) of the eggshell samples, whereas the egg yolk samples were negative for both bacteria.
