We consider the class of viscous-dispersive and higherorder conservation laws. We generalize the work of Kawashima & Shizuta, and others, by extending to higher-order the notions of symmetrizability, strict dissipativity, and genuine coupling. We prove, for symmetrizable systems, that strict dissipativity is equivalent to both (i) genuine coupling and (ii) the existence of a skewsymmetric compe...

I analyze D-D mixing using the techniques of heavy quark effect field theory. [1] The analysis suggests that the there may be important cancellations among the dispersive effects of different kinds of final states, so that the total mixing may be considerably smaller than previous estimates. [2, 3]
Using the natural differential dispersive character of the renormalization group, we give a possible explanation of the present high energy data for e+ehadrons. *Work supported in part by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.
This is the last in a series of three papers on nonparametric density estimation for randomly perturbed elliptic problems. In the previous papers [3, 4] an efficient algorithm for propagation of uncertainty into a quantity of interest computed from numerical solutions of an elliptic partial differential equation was presented, analyzed, and applied to different problems in e.g. oil reservoir si...
The Persistent Turning Walker Model (PTWM) was introduced by Gautrais et al in Mathematical Biology for the modelling of fish motion. It involves a nonlinear pathwise functional of a non-elliptic hypo-elliptic diffusion. This diffusion solves a kinetic Fokker-Planck equation based on an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Gaussian process. The long time “diffusive” behavior of this model was recently studied by...
Let Ω be an open, simply connected, and bounded region in R, d ≥ 2, and assume its boundary ∂Ω is smooth. Consider solving an elliptic partial differential equation −∆u + γu = f over Ω with a Neumann boundary condition. The problem is converted to an equivalent elliptic problem over the unit ball B, and then a spectral Galerkin method is used to create a convergent sequence of multivariate poly...
