Introduction: Nevus sebaceous (NS) is a hamartoma composed of epidermal, dermal, follicular, and apocrine appendages found in the pediatric population. The current standard treatment full-thickness excision, but this controversial as much still unknown about malignant potential benign neoplasm. Secondary lesions associated with nevus include poromas, trichoblastomas, syringocystadenomas. purpos...
Linear psoriasis is a rare form of the disease characterized by the linear distribution of lesions involving dermatome or along Blaschko's lines. Clinically, it may resemble inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus; a combination of history, skin examination, and histopathology are required to ensure correct diagnosis and appropriate therapy. This paper describes a case of a 23-year-old ma...
We previously reported that human nevus tissue was inactivated after high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) higher than 200 MPa and that human cultured epidermis (hCE) engrafted on the pressurized nevus at 200 MPa but not at 1000 MPa. In this study, we explore the changes to the epidermal basement membrane in detail and elucidate the cause of the difference in hCE engraftment. Nevus specimens of 8 mm ...
A 40-year-old patient presented with a papule on the calf with irregular brown pigmentation (Figure 1). On dermatoscopy the lesion was composed of segmental radial lines and structureless zones. Discrete reticular lines were also seen but they were also present in the surrounding normal skin. The pigmentation did not extend towards the edge of the visible scar. Disregarding the clinical history...
Gorlin syndrome (also known as basal cell nevus syndrome) is a hereditary condition characterized by development of numerous epidermal and follicular tumors. Mutations in theSHH signaling pathway are key drivers this disease. It currently unknown whether SHH mutations non-epidermal types play role phenotypes, the tumor microenvironment, or altered skin development. Through lineage tracing using...
We report two cases of epidermal nevus syndrome (ENS) involving the spine. MR imaging of the spine demonstrated intraspinal lipomas in both cases. Abnormal, enhancing, enlarged cervical and lumbosacral nerve roots were present in one patient. Spinal imaging for patients with ENS may help in the diagnosis of subtle intracranial manifestations, as it did in both of our cases. ENS has features sim...
