1.0 overview it seems that grammar plays a crucial role in the area of second and foreign language learning and widely has been acknowledged in grammar research. in other words, teaching grammar is an issue which has attracted much attention to itself, and a lot of teachers argue about the existence of grammar in language teaching and learning. this issue will remind us a famous sentence f...

High-speed recursive digital filters are of interest for applications focusing on high-speed as well as low power consumption because excess speed can be traded for low power consumption through the use of power supply voltage scaling techniques. This paper gives an overview of high-speed recursive digital filters based on frequency masking techniques.

Leakage power is increasing much faster than dynamic power at smaller linewidths. To counteract this, a number of techniques have been introduced which attempt to minimize leakage power, by exploiting the stack effect and controlling VT . This project further explores the tradeoffs in such techniques, focusing on methods using input vector control.

Abstract Piecewise-focusing (PWF) collectors replace the heliostat field and central tower receiver of Gen 2 concentrating solar thermal (CST) power plants. The PWF collector consists a large base frame supporting tiered array reflectors that concentrate sunlight into cavity receiver. rotates about pivot to track sun in azimuth, while rotate individual nearly-horizontal inclined axes elevation....

Self-focusing of ultrashort pulses in air is investigated by means of numerical simulations. The role of the vibrational Raman effect and its dependence on pulse chirp is studied, with results shedding new light on the interpretation of the measurements of the critical self-focusing power. We also discuss computational modeling issues important specifically for few-cycle pulses.

Four-wave mixing and walk-off between two optical beams are investigated for focusing Kerr media. It is shown that four-wave mixing reinforces the self-focusing of mutually trapped waves by lowering their power threshold for collapse, only when their phase mismatch is small. On the contrary, walk-off inhibits the collapse by detrapping the beams, whose partial centroids experience nonlinear osc...

Our experiments show that the critical power for self-focusing collapse of femtosecond vortex beams in air is significantly higher than that of a flattop beam and grows approximately linearly with the vortex order. With less than 10% of initial transverse intensity modulation of the beam profiles, the dominant mode of self-focusing collapse is the azimuthal breakup of the vortex rings into indi...

We propose lattice soleakons: self-trapped waves that self-consistently populate slowly-attenuating leaky modes of their self-induced defects in periodic potentials. Two types, discrete and Bragg, lattice soleakons are predicted. Discrete soleakons that are supported by combination of self-focusing and self-defocusing nonlinearities propagate robustly for long propagation distances. They eventu...
