We present a new approach to digital forensic evidence acquisition and disk imaging called sifting collectors that images only those regions of a disk with expected forensic value. Sifting collectors produce a sector-by-sector, bit-identical AFF v3 image of selected disk regions that can be mounted and is fully compatible with existing forensic tools and methods. In our test cases, they have ac...

A new indexing method is presented which is capable of indexing multiple crystal lattices from narrow wedges of diffraction data. The method takes advantage of a simplification of Fourier transform-based methods that is applicable when the unit-cell dimensions are known a priori. The efficacy of this method is demonstrated with both semi-synthetic multi-lattice data and real multi-lattice data ...

We present a method for generating a video of a talking face. The method takes as inputs: (i) still images of the target face, and (ii) an audio speech segment; and outputs a video of the target face lip synched with the audio. The method runs in real time and is applicable to faces and audio not seen at training time. To achieve this we propose an encoder-decoder CNN model that uses a joint em...

Freud wrote over three and a half million words. He was a master of style and presentation and had something worthwhile to say on every page. Moreover, he was introducing new and difficult conce...

On the most prominent account, understanding what was said is propositional knowledge of what was said. I defend an alternative on which understanding is a distinctive form of engagement with what was said. The knowledge account has been supported by its capacity to explain testimonial knowledge transmission. I argue that my account provides a superior explanation.
