objectives: this study aimed to identify elderly fallers and non-fallers by balance test under dual tasks conditions. methods & materials: this study was an analyze-comparative study. subjects were from three park of tehran. subjects were 20 older adults with outhistory of falls (aged 75.95±6.28 years) and 21 older adults with a history of 2 or more falls in the previous one year (aged 72.50±7....

Head injury is one of the most important types of injury and is responsible for most of the deaths due to trauma. Low-income and middle-income countries face with more risk factors, but they still lack adequate health-care capacity to deal with complications. Trauma literally means the damage and injury, and head injury was defined as physical damage to the brain or skull caused by external for...

background: fear of falling is not only a risk factor for falls, but it is also an important clinical predictor of functional decline in older adults. this study identified sex differences in fear of falling and related factors in older adults with low grip strength. methods: the data of 902 older adults from the 2012 korean national survey, conducted as a research project by the korea employme...

The neutral B mesons, B and B s , can oscillate between their particle and antiparticle states owing to flavor-changing weak interactions. In recent years, techniques to detect these oscillations as a function of the meson’s decay time have been developed. In this article the physics of flavor oscillations is reviewed and theoretical predictions are summarized. The many observations that demons...

Stock prices are observed to be random walks in time despite a strong, long term memory in the signs of trades (buys or sells). Lillo and Farmer have recently suggested that these correlations are compensated by opposite long ranged fluctuations in liquidity, with an otherwise permanent market impact, challenging the scenario proposed in Quantitative Finance 4, 176 (2004), where the impact is t...

This paper provides a complete physical picture of optical response time as a function of cell gap (d) in a wide voltage regime. Normally both rise and decay times are known to be proportional to d in the small angle approximation (Vth < V < ffiffiffi 2 p Vth), and in the high voltage regime where Vp < V < Vi the optical decay time is independent of d. In this paper, we found that between these...

1 Energy release in alpha-decay 2 Consider a nucleus which is stable against decay by proton or neutron emission { the least bound nucleon still has (say) several MeV of binding energy. This nucleus may nevertheless still be able to decay by using the fact that if it can emit an alpha-particle (2He), it can use the binding energy of the alpha to supply the energy needed for the escape. That is,...

We extend the two-dimensional model of drug use introduced in Behrens et al. [1999, 2000, 2002] by introducing two additional states that model in more detail newly initiated (“light”) users’ response to the drug experience. Those who dislike the drug quickly “quit” and briefly suppress initiation by others. Those who like the drug progress to ongoing (“moderate”) use, from which they may or ma...

When a weak decay competes with a strong decay in a 3-level atom, some mechanism is necessary to occasionally stop the strong decay so the weak decay can be completed. Rule (4) provides that mechanism. Using this rule, a weak photon is emitted at the correct time for both the V and Λ configurations, as well as for the two cascade configurations.
