[reaction: see text] The Silyl-Hilbert-Johnson reaction as well as the nucleobase-anion glycosylation of a series of 7-deazapurines has been investigated, and the 7-functionalized 7-deazapurine ribonucleosides were prepared. Glycosylation of the 7-halogenated 6-chloro-2-pivaloylamino-7-deazapurines 9b-d with 1-O-acetyl-2,3,5-tri-O-benzoyl-D-ribofuranose (5) gave the beta-D-nucleosides 11b-d (73...

Methyl triclosan and four halogenated analogues have been identified in extracts of individual whole-body male carp (Cyprinus carpio) tissue that were collected from Las Vegas Bay, Nevada, and Semipermeable Membrane Devices (SPMD) that were deployed in Las Vegas Wash, Nevada. Methyl triclosan is believed to be the microbially methylated product of the antibacterial agent triclosan (2, 4, 4'-tri...

The halogenated salicylanilides are a large group of compounds developed mainly for their antiparasitic activity in animals. Several halogenated salicylanilides with potent antiparasitic activity have been synthesised of which only closantel, niclosamide, oxyclozanide, rafoxanide and resorantel are commercially available. Closantel and rafoxanide, which represent the most important drugs in the...

A low-cost and high effective copper/aluminum (Cu/Al) bimetal has been developed for treatments of halogenated methanes, including dichloromethane, in near neutral and high pH aqueous systems. Bimetallic Cu/Al was prepared by a simple two-step synthetic method where Cu was deposited onto the Al surface. The presence of Cu on Al significantly enhanced rates of degradation of halogenated methanes...

This work describes an efficient, simple, and green bioprocess for obtaining 5-halogenated pyrimidine nucleosides from thymidine by transglycosylation using whole cells. Biosynthesis of 5-fluoro-2'-deoxyuridine (floxuridine) was achieved by free and immobilized Aeromonas salmonicida ATCC 27013 with an 80% and 65% conversion occurring in 1 h, respectively. The immobilized biocatalyst was stable ...

Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus were grown in media containing one of several halogenated organic acids which the bacteria metabolized but could not use as a major carbon and energy source for growth. Gas chromatographic techniques were employed to detect the presence of low population densities by analysis for products formed by the microorganisms. By virtue...

Halogenated organic contaminants, including legislated and potential persistent pollutants their precursors, represent a major environmental concern due to hazardous effects in humans wildlife as well ability bioaccumulate through the food chain, high resistance degradation, long-range atmospheric transport potential. The monitoring of these compounds environment at ultra-trace concentration le...

In the title compound, C(21)H(14)ClNO(2)S, the dihedral angle between the benzothia-zole and diphenyl methanone groups is 68.6 (2)°. The crystal structure consists of dimeric units generated by C-H⋯N bonds, further linked by C-H⋯O bonds and C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroiddistance = 3.856 (2) Å], which lead to a criss-cross assembly parallel to (001).

A conical intersection seam is behind the restriction of intramolecular rotation mechanism for aggregation induced emission in diphenyl dibenzofulvene (DPDBF). In solution, the seam is accessed through rotation around the exocyclic fulvene bond, leading to radiationless decay to the ground state. In the solid, the seam cannot be accessed because the torsion is blocked, and DPDBF becomes emissive.
