In this video, we demonstrate the procedure for isolating whole brains from adult Drosophila in preparation for recording from single neurons. We begin by describing the dissecting solution and capture of the adult females used in our studies. The procedure for removing the whole brain intact, including both optic lobes, is illustrated. Dissection of the overlying trachea is also shown. The iso...

We describe the rotational alignment sensitivity of three-dimensional holographic disks. It is shown that the reconstructed image always rotates by the angle by which the disk rotates; however, the center and the radius of rotation change as the recording geometry changes. A comparison among image plane, Fourier plane, and Fresnel holograms is given, and an optimum configuration (in terms of al...

We describe an arrangement for simultaneous recording of speech and geometry of vocal tract in ortogonathic surgery patients. Experimental design is considered from an articulatory phonetic point of view. The speech signal is recorded with an acoustic-electrical arrangement and the vocal tract with MRI. A Matlab-based system controls the timing of speech recording and MR image acquisition.

High resolution point cloud recording in close range applications is a demanding task for large objects. Current methods like handheld laser scanners are costly and require long time for acquisition. Furthermore, the recording has to be done very carefully to enable a high accuracy over the whole object. We present a flexible and compact image based solution for efficient point cloud recording ...

The space-time Greens functions for 3-D poststack and 3-D prestack migration in a homogeneous medium are derived under the fareld approximation. These Greens functions can be used to practically compute synthetic migrated images. Examples are given for the recording footprint noise associated with a point scatterer and a meandering river channel. The Greens functions also provide fundamental in...

olor image generation and processing has been growing at an unprecedented rate over the last two decades, and its effects are being felt throughout our everyday lives. Today, scanners, digital cameras, displays, and printers are available at relatively inexpensive prices for commercial and consumer applications. With the overwhelming number of image input and output devices, it is critical for ...

Computer vision systems have been exploited to detect the three dimensional shape data of objects. Slit-laser scanning or pattern projection on the recording process is executed on these system. Generally, since the recording process takes a time, the temporally stop of physical movement is required for both of the measurement target and the measurement device during the recording process. In o...

This paper brings together a team of specialists in optical metrology, museum curation, collection digitization and 3D development to describe and illustrate by example a method for the selection of the most suitable camera views, vantage viewpoints, from a large image dataset intended for metric 3D artefact reconstruction. The presented approach is capable of automatically identifying and proc...

©2004, IS&T—The Society for Imaging Science and Technology The twentieth century brought the development of television and digital imaging. Demonstration of a complete television system by Philo Farnsworth on September 7, 1927 ushered in the age of electronic imaging.4 Like the images in Lippershey’s and Galileo’s telescopes centuries earlier, live television images are transient. Photographic ...

BACKGROUND The simultaneous recording of indocyanine green and fluorescein angiography is since more than twenty years possible. The real-time digital recording of angiograms is about since 10 years possible. Because of the poor temporal resolution due to technical limitations, both of the above methods were only seldom used routinely. Graphics workstations can digitize and store multiple video...
