Blisters Formed by Multilayer 2D Materials In article number 2101939, Wenxiang Wang, Zhong Zhang, Yueguang Wei, Luqi Liu, and co-workers investigate the blisters formed materials with different thickness. The transition of blister from a constant aspect ratio to dome curvature is revealed. Meanwhile, bending stiffness interfacial adhesion energy can be derived simultaneously.

OBJECTIVES To verify the influence of different etching procedures of the post-surface on microtensile bond strength values between fiber posts and composite core materials. METHODS 60 DT Light Posts were divided into 10 subgroups using five different chemical surface treatments and two composite materials to build-up the abutment. Chemical surface treatments including etching with potassium ...

Casemaker caddisfly (Hesperophylax occidentalis) larvae use adhesive silk fibres to construct protective shelters under water. The silk comprises a distinct peripheral coating on a viscoelastic fibre core. Caddisworm silk peroxinectin (csPxt), a haem-peroxidase, was shown to be glycosylated by lectin affinity chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry. Using high-resolution H2O2 and peroxidase...

The adhesion of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans bacterial cells have been assessed by following the thermodynamic and extended DLVO theoretical approaches. Surface potential, interfacial tension and contact angle parameters that are necessary for the calculation of free energy of adhesion have been determined experimentally. The Hamaker constant involved in the Lifshitz-van der Waals interaction...

The use of carbon fibres is being explored in synchronous belts due to their excellent mechanical properties, chemical and dimensional stability. However, poor adhesion between the common rubber-fibre adhesive resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex (RFL) compromises load transfer these constituents. We examined influence surface characteristics commercial glass fibres, such as fibre chemistry, energy ar...
