We have developed a large-aperture, flash-lamp-pumped Cr:LiSrAlF(6) (Cr:LiSAF) amplifier for use in a femtosecond chirped-pulse amplifier system. Optimum design of the 19-mm-diameter amplifier results in a single-pass gain of 5 with good beam quality. This amplifier produces 1.05-J pulses after compression, with a width of 125 fs at a repetition rate of 0.05 Hz.

A case of May-Thurner-like syndrome was found to be a result of a pelvic kidney compressing the left common iliac vein. Cross-sectional imaging demonstrated transverse mobility of the pelvic kidney which has not been described previously. The ectopic kidney's mobility resulted in intermittent venous compression. In a patient with recurrent lower extremity deep venous thrombosis and a pelvic kid...

Sir I was interested in the brief report of a case of spinal stenosis due to pseudogout in your July 1994 issue (l994;76-B:6723), having reported a very similar case of nerve-root compression in a 64-year-old patient with unilateral intermiuent claudication (Dehais et al 1977). I agree that pyrophosphate deposition should be considered as a possible cause of nerve-root compression in patients w...

Abstract The inherent nature of the renewable energies is to be intermittent. This leads negative effects on security and stability energy production system. A sensible solution eliminate or reduce integrate storage system with a source–based Carnot battery an emerging technology that allows storing electric at low cost no geographical restrictions. To this end, paper attempts provide comprehen...

A rise in the fat concentration of human milk within the syringe was noted towards the end of continuous infusion but not with intermittent bolus gastric feeding. The rise in the former was reduced most simply and effectively by using an eccentric nozzle syringe and tilting the pump up at an angle of between 25 degrees and 40 degrees.
