An automated, continuous flow droplet screening system is presented, enabling real-time simultaneous solvent and continuous variable optimization. An optimal design of experiments strategy is applied to the alkylation of 1,2-diaminocyclohexane in 16 μL droplets, with scale-up demonstrated. Analysis of segmented flow results suggests correlation of yield with solvent hydrogen bond basicity.

Cross-metathesis involving N-heteroaromatic olefinic derivatives is disclosed. The introduction of an appropriate substituent on the heteroaromatic ring decreases the Lewis basicity of the nitrogen atom, thus preventing the deactivation of the ruthenium-centered catalyst. The reaction is quite general in terms of both N-heterocycles and olefinic partners.

We consider a perturbed system of exponents { en } n∈Z, when the sequence {λn }n∈Z has a definite asymptotics. We study basis properties (completeness, minimality, basicity) of this system in Lebesgue space of functions Lp(·) (−π, π) with variable summability exponent p(·), subject to parameters contained in the asymptotics {λn}n∈Z.

We demonstrate that the emission energy of the cypridinid oxyluciferin depends strongly on the polarity and, to a lesser extent, on the basicity of the medium. The emission color can be tuned by environment effects from violet to green. We also provide firm evidence that the natural system utilizes the neutral form of the emitter.

We report the advances in the principal structural and experimental factors that might influence the carbon dioxide (CO2) adsorption on natural and synthetic zeolites. The CO2 adsorption is principally govern by the inclusion of exchangeable cations (countercations) within the cavities of zeolites, which induce basicity and an electric field, two key parameters for CO2 adsorption.
