The aim of this study was to describe the influence of pelvis rotation on the projected radiographic position of the femoral head in relationship to the acetabulum in the standard ventrodorsal hip extended view, i.e. Norberg angle, pelvic thickness at the level of the cranial effective acetabular rim, femoral head subluxation index, femoral head subluxation category and femoral head-acetabular ...
A 60-year-old Tunisian male, treated for an axial spondyloarthritis with indometacin (100 mg per day), consulted for a new 4-month history of inflammatory neck pain. The neurologic exam was normal. Radiographs of his neck showed a vertical atlantoaxial subluxation. MRI did not find any neurological suffering. Atlantoaxial subluxation is an uncommon and potentially fatal complication of spondylo...
PURPOSE To evaluate the technique, safety, and efficacy of the retropupillary implantation of iris-claw intraocular lenses in a long-term follow-up study. PATIENTS AND METHODS This retrospective study included 31 eyes of 31 patients who underwent an Artisan aphakic intraocular lens implantation between January 2006 and February 2011 at the University Hospital Essen, Essen, Germany and at the ...
A longitudinal tear of the peroneal tendon is thought to be the result of repetitive peroneal subluxation. However, this report documents two cases of longitudinal split of the peroneus brevis tendon that had no peroneal tendon subluxation. Primary suture was performed. Subluxation of the peroneal tendons was not identified surgically in either case.
Basic science and clinical models of the vertebral subluxation are reviewed. Neurobiological mechanisms associated with these models are described. Models reviewed include the subluxation complex model, subluxation degeneration, nerve compression, dysafferentation, the neurodystrophic model and segmental facilitation. Clinical models, including the segmental, postural, and tonal approaches are ...
Objectives: This paper provides new information that describes chiropractors’ professional identity relative to their concept of subluxation in chiropractic practice and education. Methods: We performed a pragmatic, descriptive, cross-sectional survey of stateboard licensed chiropractors in the US during 2002-03 to assess their attitudes and behaviors about their use of “subluxation” in practic...
Anterior subluxation (hyperflexion sprain) is localized, purely ligamentous disruption of the cervical spine caused by a limited flexion force. When associated with a simple wedge fraction, also a flexion injury, anterior subluxation may be the more significant lesion. Radiographically, anterior subluxation is characterised by (1) a localized kyphotic angulation at the level of injury; (2) ante...
