We show that taking into account the temporal intensity profile of a pulsed pump beam may lead to significant deviations from the predictions based on a continuous wave analysis of the modulation instability process occurring in a dispersion oscillating fiber operating under the conditions that lead to gain sideband splitting. Potential application to a pulse doubling scheme with tunable delay ...

Type-tunable optical gain performance of core-seeded CdSe/CdS nanorods is studied via two-photon optical pumping. Controlling the exciton-exciton interaction by varying the core and shell size, blue-shifted and red-shifted modes of amplified spontaneous emission are systematically demonstrated and their type attributions are verified by time-resolved emission kinetics.

We demonstrate a method for all-optical, tunable pulse repetition-rate multiplication of a mode-locked laser based on spectral line-by-line control. In particular, two-to-five-times repetition-rate multiplication of a 9 GHz source is achieved with very high fidelity.

We demonstrate 10Gbit/s operation of two different types of monolithic photocurrent driven wavelength converters (PD-WC). These photonic integrated circuits use a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA)-PIN photodetector receiver to drive an Electro-absorption (EA), or Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator that is integrated with a SGDBR tunable laser. We demonstrate improvements in optical bandwidth, inse...

In this paper we present a floating-Gate differential amplifier input stage with tunable gain. The input stage can be used in a differential ultra lowvoltage (ULV) floating gate (FG) transconductance amplifier. Measured data for the subcircuits operating at 0.8V, 0.5V and 0.3V are provided.

In this paper, a compact, planar printed microstrip line fed pentagonal shape ultra-wideband antenna with triple band-notched characteristics is proposed and investigated. By incorporating pair of mirrored Γ-shape, L-shape slots in the patch bent C-shape parasitic strip at backside patch, tunable band notched responses are realized. The fabricated on Rogers RO3003 substrate permittivity 3.0 thi...

We generalize three classical characterizations of line graphs to signed and gain graphs: the Krausz's characterization, van Rooij Wilf's characterization Beineke's characterization. In particular, we present a list forbidden subgraphs characterizing class gain-line graphs. case graph whose underlying is graph, this consists exactly four Under same hypothesis, prove that if only its eigenvalues...

An electro-optic tunable single and multi-channel optical filter based on one-dimensional defective photonic crystal (1DDPC) structure is proposed. A couple of externally tunable defects in arrangement of (AB)5D1(BA)D2(BA)5, where A and B are dielectric materials, D1 and D2 are the tunable defects are used. The defects are composed of the ferroelectric LiNbO3 crystals and two pairs of thin Ag l...

Tunable leaky-mode resonant silicon-nitride pixels providing red/green/blue spectral lines are analyzed. Critical dimensions, rate of tuning, linewidths, and polarization properties are quantified. ©2007 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (050.1950) Diffraction gratings; (310.2790) guided waves; (120.2440) filters. Optomechanically-induced transparency (OMIT) and the associated slowing of light provide the basis for storing photons in nanoscale devices. Here we study OMIT in parity-time (PT)-symmetric microresonators with a tunable gain-to-loss ratio. This system features a sideband-reversed, non-amplifying transparency, i.e., an inverted-OMIT. When the gain-to-loss ratio is varied, the system exhibits a ...
