In this paper, we introduce a new method to automatically detect useful landmarks for visual SLAM. Landmarks are detected by a biologically motivated attention system. Various experimental results on real-world data show that the landmarks are useful with respect to be tracked in consecutive frames and to enable closing loops.

C-loops are loops satisfying x(y(yz)) = ((xy)y)z. They often behave analogously to Moufang loops and they are closely related to Steiner triple systems and combinatorics. We initiate the study of C-loops by proving: (i) Steiner loops are C-loops, (ii) C-loops are alternative, inverse property loops with squares in the nucleus, (iii) the nucleus of a C-loop is a normal subgroup, (iv) C-loops mod...

A study of the center symmetric phase of SU(2) Yang Mills theory is presented. Realization of the center symmetry is shown to result from non-perturbative gauge xing. Dictated by the center symmetry, this phase exhibits already at the perturbative level con nement like properties. The analysis is performed by investigating the dynamics of the Polyakov loops. The ultralocality of these degrees o...

The hyperstatic nature of granular packings of perfectly rigid disks is analyzed algebraically and through numerical simulation. The elementary loops of grains emerge as a fundamental element in addressing hyperstaticity. Loops consisting of an odd number of grains behave differently than those with an even number. For odd loops, the latent stresses are exterior and are characterized by the sum...

We constructed a simple evolutionary system, "evoloop," on a deterministic nine-state five-neighbor cellular automata (CA) space by improving the structurally dissolvable self-reproducing loop we had previously contrived [14] after Langton's self-reproducing loop [7]. The principal role of this improvement is to enhance the adaptability (a degree of the variety of situations in which structures...

We present a systematic expansion of all constraint equations in canonical quantum gravity up to the order of the inverse Planck mass squared. It is demonstrated that this method generates the conventional Feynman diagrammatic technique involving graviton loops and vertices. It also reveals explicitly the back reaction effects of quantized matter and graviton vacuum polarization. This provides ...

We analyze multiple-wavelength observations of a two-ribbon flare exhibiting apparent expansion motion of the flare ribbons in the lower atmosphere and rising motion of X-ray emission at the top of newly-formed flare loops. We evaluate magnetic reconnection rate in terms of VrBr by measuring the ribbon-expansion velocity (Vr) and the chromospheric magnetic field (Br) swept by the ribbons. We al...

The Tableaux Work Bench (TWB) is a meta tableau system designed for logicians with limited programming or automatic reasoning knowledge to experiment with new tableau calculi and new decision procedures. It has a simple interface, a history mechanism for controlling loops or pruning the search space, and modal simplification.

We present a variation of the partitionmethod for solving mth-order linear recurrences that is well-suited to vector multiprocessors. The algorithm fully utilizes both vector and multiprocessor capabilities, and reduces the number of memory accesses as compared to the more commonly used version of the partition method. Our variation uses a general loop restructuring technique called loop raking...
