We present a theoretical study of the absorption of light in periodic arrays of InP nanowires. The absorption in the array depends strongly on the diameter and the length of the nanowires, as well as the period of the array. Nanowires of a length of just 2 microm are able, after an appropriate choice for the other parameters, to absorb more than 90% of the incident energy of TE and TM polarized...
We report that the length and surface properties of TiO(2) nanowires can have a dramatic effect on their photoelectrochemical properties. To study the length dependence, rutile TiO(2) nanowires (0.28-1.8 μm) were grown on FTO substrates with different reaction times (50-180 min) using a hydrothermal method. Nanowires show an increase in photocurrent with length, and a maximum photocurrent of 0....
(1) Na wire [2] The single-row sodium nanowires exhibit conductance oscillation and bunching of high electron density with two atom-lengths in the channel density distribution. The relationship between the period of the conductance oscillation and the length of the bunches is interpreted using a simplified model. The difference in the penetration parameters between the incident Bloch wave and t...
Metallic nanoscale structures are capable of supporting surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs), propagating collective electron oscillations with tight spatial confinement at the metal surface. SPPs represent one of the most promising structures to beat the diffraction limit imposed by conventional dielectric optics. Ag nano wires have drawn increasing research attention due to 2D sub-100 nm mode co...
Nanoparticle/nanowire assemblies with a degree of radial organization were prepared around luminescent semiconducting CdTe nanowires using bioconjugation with streptavidin and D-biotin linkers. Red-emitting nanowires (6.62 +/- 1.55 nm diameter, 512 +/- 119 nm length) and green-emitting nanoparticles (3.2 +/- 0.7 nm diameter) were surface-modified with biotin, while orange-emitting nanoparticles...
In this work, the structural defects and thermal conductivity of CuO, ZnO, CuO/ZnO nanowires have been studied, using molecular dynamics simulation with COMB3 potential. The initial parameters atoms positions were taken from reports bulk materials tenorite wurtzite structures, respectively. Nanowires grown along c-axis, as observed experimentally. results confirm apparition in systems after a f...
The fast development of plasmonics have greatly advanced our understanding to the abundant phenomena related to surface plamon polaritons (SPPs) and improved our ability to manipulate light at the nanometer scale. With tightly confi ned local fi eld, SPPs can be transmitted in waveguides of subwavelength dimensions. Nanophotonic circuits built with plasmonic elements can be scaled down to dimen...
Magnetization reversal in a ferromagnetic nanowire which is much narrower than the exchange length is believed to be accomplished through the thermally activated growth of a spatially localized nucleus, which initially occupies a small fraction of the total volume. To date, the most detailed theoretical treatments of reversal as a field-induced but noise-activated process have focused on the ca...
A simple galvanic reduction for direct growth of Au nanowires on silicon wafers is developed. The nanowires were prepared by reacting HAuCl4aq with Sns in the presence of CTACaq (cetyltrimethylammonium chloride) and NaNO3aq, which were important to the product morphology development. The nanowire diameter was 50-100 nm, and the length was more than 20 microm.
