The temperature and field dependencies of magnetization of NdFeAsO0.94F0.06 bulk sample are shown to exhibit the Curie-Weiss behaviour, both in the superconducting and normal states. To address the origin of the strong paramagnetic signal, particularly to reveal contributions from antiferromagnetic second phases in sintered NdFeAsO0.94F0.06, the magnetic response of Nd2O3 was measured and compa...

The effect of five spectrally selective filters on the performance of an acuity-dependent visual search task was evaluated. The filters were: A) a neutral density filter (control condition); B) a 5200A green interference filter; C) a 3215-250 red filter; D) a neodymium visor; and E) a holographic visor. The observers were presented with 5 blocks of 10 slides per filter. Each slide projected a 6...

in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...

The Nd:YAG laser effectively removes or lightens amateur and professional tattoos. The biomechanics of the removal of tattoo particles at the cellular level are incompletely understood. We examined biopsies obtained from 35 amateur and professional tattoos (including coloured tattoos), treated on three or more occasions with the Nd:YAG laser. Biopsies taken immediately after laser treatment sho...

Continental ice sheets are a key component of the Earth's climate system, but their internal dynamics need to be further studied. Since the last deglaciation, the northern Eurasian Fennoscandian Ice Sheet (FIS) has been connected to the Black Sea (BS) watershed, making this basin a suitable location to investigate former ice-sheet dynamics. Here, from a core retrieved in the BS, we combine the ...

Previous results obtained for the cis-polymerisation of isoprene with scandium half-sandwich complex Cp*Sc(BH(4))(2)(THF) 1a were extended to its neodymium analog. The X-ray structure of the already reported neodymium monomer compound Cp*Nd(BH(4))(2)(THF)(2) 1b is presented. Cp*Nd(BH(4))(2)(THF)(2)/[CPh(3)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)]/Al((i)Bu)(3) catalytic system was found to be very active and stereosele...

BACKGROUND Millisecond pulse duration 1064-nm Neodymium:YAG (Nd:YAG) lasers have been shown to be effective in the treatment of some lower leg telangiectases. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and complication rate of a millisecond pulse duration 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser in the treatment of facial telangiectases. METHODS Fifteen subjects were evaluated. RESULTS Moderate to significant improv...

Two non-isostructural homometallic 1D neodymium species displaying field-induced slow magnetization relaxations are presented together with theoretical studies. It is established that both systems are better described as organized 1D single molecule magnets (SMMs). Studies show great potential of Nd(III) ions to provide homometallic chains with slow magnetic relaxation.
