We describe a new technique which includes motion within the evidence gathering process of the Hough transform to detect moving parametric shapes. Experimental results show that this new technique offers increased noise immunity and improved performance, especially in cases of partial occlusion.

Differential signaling schemes are a common approach to achieving higher noise immunity for critical signals in a high-speed digital design. Measurement and modeling of the transmission lines carrying differential signals, however, pose several different challenges that need to be addressed in order to achieve an accurate picture of differential signal transmission in digital system design and ...

Neuron models of associative memory provide a new and prospective technology for reliable date storage and patterns recognition. However, even when the patterns are uncorrelated, the efficiency of most known models of associative memory is low. We developed a new version of associative memory with record characteristics of its storage capacity and noise immunity, which, in addition, is effectiv...

This paper reviews the recent advances in SOI digital CMOS circuits. Particular emphases is placed on the impact of floating-body in partially-depleted devices on the circuit operation, stability, and functionality. Unique SOI design aspects such as parasitic bipolar effect and hysteretic VT variation are addressed. Circuit techniques to improve the noise immunity and global design issues are a...

A review of works on associative neural networks accomplished during last four years in the Institute of Optical Neural Technologies RAS is given. The presentation is based on description of parametrical neural networks (PNN). For today PNN have record recognizing characteristics (storage capacity, noise immunity and speed of operation). Presentation of basic ideas and principles is accentuated.

AbstructThis paper presents adaptive-control schemes that estimate load-model parameters and adaptively “tune” a digital controller for an inductively-coupled power delivery circuit. Estimation algorithms are presented that utilize specific recursive formulations, which provide adequate noise immunity in a power-electronic environment. The techniques are demonstrated using a servomechanical sys...

Temporal dynamics is an important feature of speech that distinguishes speech from noise, as well as distinguishing between different speakers. In this paper, we present an approach to extract long-range temporal dynamics of speech for text-independent speaker recognition. We aim to maximize the noise immunity arising from the distinct temporal dynamics of speech. The new approach achieves this...

Alternative explanations for disease and other population cycles typically include extrinsic environmental drivers, such as climate variability, and intrinsic nonlinear dynamics resulting from feedbacks within the system, such as species interactions and density dependence. Because these different factors can interact in nonlinear systems and can give rise to oscillations whose frequencies diff...

Presented in this paper are lower bounds on energy-efficiency of the mirror noise-tolerant dynamic circuit technique. These lower bounds are derived by solving an energy optimization problem subject to an information-theoretic constraint. Design overheads associated with the noise-tolerant circuit techniques are discussed and incorporated into the optimization problem. Simulation results for a ...

As the size of CMOS devices is scaled down to the nanoscale level, noise interferences start to significantly affect the VLSI circuit performance. Because the noise is random and dynamic in nature, a probabilistic-based approach is more suitable to handle signal errors than the conventional deterministic circuit designs. However, probabilistic-based designs cost larger hardware area. In this pa...
