The plant defensin NaD1, from Nicotiana alata, has potent antifungal activity against a range of filamentous fungi including the two important cotton pathogens, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum (Fov) and Verticillium dahliae. Transgenic cotton plants expressing NaD1 were produced and plants from three events were selected for further characterization. Homozygous plants were assessed in gre...

Most of the existing panoramic cameras have cylindrical field of view (FOV) which has a 360 width in azimuth, but a limited height in elevation. However, a hemispherical (or near spherical) FOV is highly desirable in many applications such as robot navigation and surveillance. This paper presents a planarmirror-based panoramic camera (HEM) which is capable of acquiring nearly hemispherical FOV ...

MEMS mirrors have a wide range of applications, most which require large field-of-view (FOV). Immersing in liquid is an effective way to improve the FOV. However, increased viscosity, convective heat transfer and thermal conductivity greatly affect dynamic behaviors electrothermally actuated micromirrors. In this paper, complex interactions among multiple energy domains, including electrical, t...

BACKGROUND Motion correction is a challenging pre-processing problem that arises early in the analysis pipeline of calcium imaging data sequences. The motion artifacts in two-photon microscopy recordings can be non-rigid, arising from the finite time of raster scanning and non-uniform deformations of the brain medium. NEW METHOD We introduce an algorithm for fast Non-Rigid Motion Correction (...

A novel approach to significantly increasing the field of view (FOV) of night vision goggles (NVGs) has been developed and demonstrated. This approach uses four image intensifier tubes instead of the usual two to produce a very wide 100 degree horizontal by about 4 0 degree vertical FOV. A conceptual working model, designated the Panoramic NVG, has been fabricated and evaluated.

We explored the destabilizing effect of visual field motion as the base of support (BOS) and the field of view (FOV) were narrowed. Visual field motion was achieved using an immersive virtual environment (scene) that moved realistically with head motion (natural motion) and translated sinusoidally at 0.1Hz in the fore-aft direction (augmented motion). Natural motion was presented in stereo whil...

The Imager on Board Integral Satellite (IBIS) is the imaging instrument of the INTEGRAL satellite, the hard-X/soft-gamma ray ESA mission to be launched in 2001. It provides diagnostic capabilities of fine imaging (12’ FWHM), source identification and spectral sensitivity to both continuum and broad lines over a broad (15 keV–10 MeV) energy range. It has a continuum sensitivity of 2 10 ph cm s a...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this work is to evaluate the impact of optimization of magnification on performance parameters of the variable resolution X-ray (VRX) CT scanner. METHODS A realistic model based on an actual VRX CT scanner was implemented in the GATE Monte Carlo simulation platform. To evaluate the influence of system magnification, spatial resolution, field-of-view (FOV) and scatter-...

Existing OPAs are typically based on 2D rectangular arrays or 1D linear arrays. Both approaches present a limited field-of-view (FOV) due to the presence of grating lobes when element spacing is larger than λ/2. To address need for an increased steering range, we propose new design strategy OPA system utilizing circular phased array, with substantially FOV. We using demonstrated antenna design,...

This study investigated how display parameters influence humans’ ability to control simulated egorotations from optic flow. The literature on visual turn perception reports contradictory data, which might be partly due to the different display devices used in these studies. In this study, we aimed at disentangling the influence of display devices, screen curvature, and field of view (FOV) on th...
