Peptide nucleic acid (PNA)-mediated PCR clamping (H. Orum, P. E. Nielsen, M. Egholm, R. H. Berg, O. Buchardt, and C. Stanley, Nucleic Acids Res. 21:5332-5336, 1993) was introduced as a novel procedure to selectively amplify ribosomal DNAs (rDNAs) which are not frequently found in clone libraries generated by standard PCR from complex microbial consortia. Three different PNA molecules were used;...

Transcription factors (TFs) play an important role in the regulation of plant growth and development. The study of the structure and function of TFs represents a research frontier in plant molecular biology. The findings of these studies will provide significant information regarding genetic improvement traits in crops. Currently, a large number of TFs have been cloned, and their function has b...

Source and Description of Primers. Primers (Set A) were designed based on a porcine glutathioneperoxidase5 (GPX5) genecDNAsequence available in the GenBank (#D37916). Using porcine genomic DNA as a template in the PCR, these primers amplified either a 2.9kb or a 2.4-kb fragment. Set B and Set C primers were designed based on the pig DNA sequence generated using Set A primers.

In the present paper, the experience with detection of intron 22 inversion of F8C gene in severe hemophilia A patients using a recently described long-distance PCR (LD-PCR) method was reported. To test the sensitivity and the specifity of the LD-PCR, analysis of 46 DNA samples of patients and their family members, previously tested by Southern hybridization, was performed. In addition, 16 DNA s...

We report a new strategy for cloning DNA of the plant-infecting geminiviruses that is based on PCR amplification with primers overlapping the sequence of a restriction site in the viral genome. This method reduces the time and work necessary to obtain biologically active geminivirus DNAs and could be used for other DNA viruses having circular genomes, such as the animalinfecting circoviruses. G...

Torque teno virus (TTV) is prevalent worldwide and has been extensively studied in human and some wild and domestic animals. As the studies on TTV in chickens was rare and there was no information about the infection of domestic village chickens with TTV and also structural resemblance of this virus to chicken anemia virus, the frequency of the infection in domestic village chickens in differen...
