The use of renewable energy in power generation and sudden changes in load and fault in power transmission lines may cause a voltage drop in the system and challenge the reliability of the system. One way to compensate the changing nature of renewable energies in the short term without the need to disconnect loads or turn on other plants, is the use of renewable energy storage. The use of ener...
Complex energy modeling is increasingly central to the development of electricity sector regulations, and perhaps increasingly necessary. But environmental agencies need to remain vigilant to avoid vulnerabilities created when models designed for broad energy system projections are repurposed for the design of detailed pollution control policies. All models are false, some are useful, and by im...

This paper presents a procedure for modifying a given set of scan vectors so that the peak power during scan testing is kept below a specified limit without reducing fault coverage. The proposed approach works for any conventional full-scan design -no extra design-for-test (DFT) logic is required. If the peak power in a clock cycle during scan testing exceeds a specified limit (which depends on...
In this paper, we describe new integer linear programming models and algorithms for datapath scheduling that aim at minimizing peak power while maintaining performance. The first algorithm, MVDFC combines both multiple supply voltages and dynamic frequency clocking for peak power reduction, while the second algorithm, MVMC explores multiple supply voltages and multicycling. The algorithms use t...
1 Abstract We have tested a series of Ytterbium doped large core fibers operating near 10Kpps and producing pulses of approximately 1ns. We have achieved 850μJ/pulse resulting in peak powers in excess of 2MW with 0.4ns pulses and near diffraction limited beams. In another fiber, we have achieved over 1.5mJ/pulse with pulses of 900ps corresponding to 1.65MW of peak power and M of 2.5. In the lat...
We have analyzed the UV continuum light curves of 2535 pixels obtained during fifteen separate observations of active regions with the Ultraviolet Spectrometer and Polarimeter (UVSP) on board the solar maximum mission in 1989. Specifically we have looked for periodicities. In the power spectra of 738 light curves (i.e., 29%), evidence was found for periodicities at multiple frequencies. For eac...
Abstract Because of the enormous economic gain it may offer, unit commitment (UC) has been a primary optimization job in daily operation planning contemporary power systems. The AC optimal flow (ACOPF) constraint is method for determining ideal load arrangement alternating current (AC) Using and ACOPF limitations to determine distribution an important approach ensure steady functioning with exa...
We define filter-tolerant powers of finite relational structures, and consider the problem of retracting such structures to their diagonal. We show that for some structures, such retractions can be readily derived from the axioms of Zermelo and Fraenkel, while at the other extreme, there are structures for which the existence of such retractions is equivalent to the ultrafilter axiom.
