ALTHOUGH it has not been in my power to extend the inquiry into the causes and effects of the variolæ vaccinæ much beyond its original limits, yet, perceiving that it is beginning to excite a general spirit of investigation, I think it of importance, without delay, to communicate such facts as have since occurred, and to point out the fallacious sources from whence a disease imitative of the tr...

Cloacibacterium normanense is a Gram-negative bacterium recovered from untreated human wastewater. Given its high abundance in wastewater and its apparent absence in human stool, it may contribute to biological phosphate removal. Here, we perform a whole-genome sequence of C. normanense NRS-1(T) and examine particular features of this draft genome.

The rhizosphere is the area around the root of a plant occupied by a unique population of usefulbacteria known as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). In this study, the isolation andidentification of rhizobacteria from orange (Citrus sinensis) orchards using 16S rRNA gene, as well asbiological and biochemical assays is reported. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene was confirmed bybiological and ...

Phosphate is an essential nutrient for heterotrophic bacteria, affecting bacterioplankton in aquatic ecosystems and bacteria in biofilms. However, the influence of phosphate limitation on bacterial competition and biofilm development in multispecies populations has received limited attention in existing studies. To address this issue, we isolated 13 adhesive bacteria from paper machine aggregat...

Phosphorus (P) is one of the major essential macronutrient for plant growth. Phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PCB) is a group of heterotrophic bacteria capable of solubilizing organic and inorganic phosphorus from insoluble compounds, releasing phosphate available for plant uptake. In this study endophytic bacteria were isolated form nodules of French bean grown in different intercropping syste...

Chewing of gum contributes to the maintenance of oral health. Many oral diseases, including caries and periodontal disease, are caused by bacteria. However, it is unknown whether chewing of gum can remove bacteria from the oral cavity. Here, we hypothesize that chewing of gum can trap bacteria and remove them from the oral cavity. To test this hypothesis, we developed two methods to quantify nu...
