A prostatic utricle cyst is an epithelial lined diverticulum arising from the prostatic urethra and usually asymptomatic when small. When enlarged, it may be symptomatic and is typically accompanied by hypospadias. We present a case of a markedly enlarged prostatic utricle in a neonate without hypospadias, demonstrated on voiding cystourethrography (VCUG), ultrasound, and 1.5 Tesla MRI.

Recto-prostatic fistula is a rare complication of prostatic surgery, occurring usually because surgical planes are not appreciated. We describe a combined abdomino-perineal approach for the repair of a large recto-prostatic fistula with the interposition of omentum and gracilis without formally closing the fistula in layers.

We studied arginase activity in human prostatic tissue in 15 patients with benign hyperplasia and 27 patients with prostatic carcinoma. Arginase specific activity is greater (p less than 0.0001) in prostatic carcinomas than in hyperplastic prostates. Arginase specific activity is correlated inversely (p less than 0.0001) with the histological grade of the tumor.
