Arenaviruses are feared as agents that cause viral hemorrhagic fevers. We report the identification, isolation, and genetic characterization of 2 novel arenaviruses from Namaqua rock mice in Namibia. These findings extend knowledge of the distribution and diversity of arenaviruses in Africa.

To explore the relationship between cutting vibration and load of a single pick, this paper studied new method for pick rock identification. This improved low accuracy problem regularization in inverse process frequency response function traditional identification by introducing filter operator. By combining pseudoexcitation method, dependent on signal was realized. A test equipment built, whic...

This paper describes the system submitted by Politecnico di Torino for the 2007 NIST Language Recognition Evaluation. The system, which was among the best participants in this evaluation, is a combination of classifiers based on three acoustic models and on two sets of Parallel Phone tokenizers. It exploits several state-of-the-art techniques that have been successfully applied in recent years ...

The process of borehole drilling is a nonlinear and many dimensional process. During drilling it is possible occurrence of some complications (for example transition of drilling tool in layer with anomalous pressure). New method of identification of rock layers with anomalous pressure was proposed and tested on real plant data.

Rock abrasivity, as one of the most important parameters affecting the rock drillability, significantly influences the drilling rate in mines. Therefore, rock abrasivity should be carefully evaluated prior to selecting and employing drilling machines. Since the tests for a rock abrasivity assessment require sophisticated laboratory equipment, empirical models can be used to predict rock a...

LE leading edge Transonic free-to-roll and static wind tunnel tests for four military aircraft – the AV-8B, the F/A-18C, the pre-production F/A-18E, and the F-16C – have been analyzed. These tests were conducted in the NASA Langley 16-Foot Transonic Tunnel as a part of the NASA/Navy/Air Force Abrupt Wing Stall Program. The objectives were to evaluate the utility of the freeto-roll test techniqu...

pits, quarries, and on construction sites. The prediction of the penetration rate of drilling machines is very important for cost estimation and planning of rock excavation projects. Many researchers have investigated percussive drilling theoretically or experimentally and correlated the penetration rate with various rock properties. Protodyakonov (1962) developed drop tests and described the c...

The prediction of rock sawability is important in the cost estimation and the planning of the stone plants. An accurate estimation of rock sawability helps to make the planning of the rock sawing projects more efficient. Rock sawability depends on non-controlled parameters related to rock characteristics and controlled parameters related to properties of cutting tools and equipment. In the same...

Experiments were performed to determine the extent of penetration of drill water into Grouse Canyon densely welded t ff during use of normal drilling practices. Core samples were examin d from a borehole cored in a rib of the Rock Mechanics drift in G Tunnel at the Nevada Test Site, Nye County, Nevada. Methylene blu dye was added to the drill water to act as a tracer which stained the rock blue...

Abstract Common rock thin section making and identification technology is widely used in reservoir property research of oil gas exploration development, basic analysis such as mineral identification. It also to identify describe tiny particles, fossils, fractures, structures. The preparation qualified rock-thin sections critical the accuracy results. Through on each link affecting production pr...
