This paper focuses on an integrated optimization problem that involves multiple qualitative and quantitative responses in the thin quad flat pack (TQFP) molding process. A fuzzy quality loss function (FQLF) is first applied to the qualitative responses, since the molding defects cannot be simply represented by the relationship between molding conditions and mathematical models. Neural network i...

The incidence of auricular deformities is believed to be ∼11.5 per 10,000 births, excluding children with microtia. Although not life-threatening, auricular deformities can cause undue distress for patients and their families. Although surgical procedures have traditionally been used to reconstruct congenital auricular deformities, ear molding has been gaining acceptance as an efficacious, noni...

This article describes the use of a newly invented compound stick gun to take impressions for complete denture. The border molding process involves loading the modeling compound in an electric heating device and applying an even thickness of compound on the flange of a custom tray at a proper temperature without hot water tempering. This method provides a quicker and easier border molding proce...

Plastics is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries, ranked as one of the few multi-billion dollar industries. Due to the vast improvements in polymers and production processes, plastics are now amongst the world’s most widely used materials, with the world consumption of polymers surpassing steel in volume and weight. Injection molding represents approximately 32% (by weight)...
