In this work, we produced large-area graphene oxide (GO) sheets with fewer defects on the basal plane by application of shear stress in solution to obtain high-quality reduced graphene oxide (RGO) sheets without the need for post-annealing processes. This is described as rheologically derived RGO. The large-area GO sheets were generated using a homogenizer in aqueous solution, which induced sli...

This work aims to explain the effects of sonication periods, ranging from 0 4 h with a step 1 h, on morphology and structural properties Ni-doped hydroxyapatites at constant amount 0.4 at.%. The lattice parameters, crystallinity, crystallite size were affected by time. Among sonicated samples, it was observed that increasing period reduced c/a ratio. It also found ultrasonication duration.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of four strains, generally used in clinic, including Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Streptococcus thermophilus and Enterococcus faecalis, and their related products on human colonic smooth muscle in vitro. METHODS Human colonic circular muscle strips obtained from disease-free margins of resected segments from 25 patients with colorecta...

In novel, low-speed sedimentation assays, highly purified, sonicated Dictyostelium discoideum plasma membrane fragments bind to F-actin beads (fluorescein-labeled F-actin on antifluorescein IgG-Sephacryl S-1000 beads). Binding was found to be (a) specific, since beads containing bound fluorescein-labeled ovalbumin or beads without bound fluorescein-labeled protein do not bind membranes, (b) sat...

The deposition of gadolinium through ultrasound-induced blood-brain barrier (BBB) openings in the murine hippocampus was investigated. First, wave propagation simulations through the intact mouse skull revealed minimal beam distortion while thermal deposition simulations, at the same sonication parameters used to induce BBB opening in vivo, revealed temperature increases lower than 0.5 degrees ...

In humans, the physiologic relation between myocardial blood flow and epicardial coronary artery anatomy remains poorly defined. With the recent development of sonicated microbubble contrast agents, it is now possible to use contrast echocardiography to assess myocardial perfusion and to correlate blood flow with angiographically identified coronary artery anatomy. The purpose of the current st...

To assess the efficacy of an antibiofilm/antimicrobial agent combination, we incubated catheter segments colonized with one of six studied bacterial organisms in N-acetylcysteine, tigecycline, N-acetylcysteine-tigecycline, or saline. Segments were washed, sonicated, and cultured. N-acetylcysteine-tigecycline significantly decreased all viable biofilm-associated bacteria and was synergistic for ...

A 2 x 3 factorial designed experiment was conducted in order to examine whether freeze-dried rat spermatozoa can participate in full-term development following intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). A sperm suspension from cauda epididymides of Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats was prepared with or without ultrasonic treatment. The sonicated and non-sonicated sperm suspensions were processed for freez...

High-field proton magic-angle sample-spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is shown to yield high-resolution 'H spectra of smectic, nematic and hexagonal-I1 phase lipids, from which isotropic chemical shifts, order parameters and relaxation times (q, qp and T,) can be determined. Such experiments are possible because of the special form of the dipolar Hamiltonian in such ...
